Watched both games. Put simply he struggled against Doncaster (17th in League 2) last time he started, whereas last night he didn't (as much) vs Mansfield (4th in the same league). That's a positive I guess.

Last year’s run in this competition was a huge boost for the likes of Price, Anderson , Samuels-Smith , Welch and Mills it showed they could compete against men , it enabled some to make moves away permanently or others on loan . For me it’s taken over from the FA Youth Cup as the new “ marker” of our upcoming talent at an older age.
The rawness of Chermiti is there to see and you could see his frustration last night at times , but this is what he’s going to have to get used to. I thought he looked sharp and tricky at times , he worked reasonably hard but probably not quite to the extent Dyche will want him too . A “ Work in progress “ is the obvious phrase

The FA Youth Cup is always an indicator if a club like Everton has a top academy player. I agree that ‘open age’ footy is where we truly discover if these young professionals have a chance of making the step up.
I think U21 football is too much of a comfort zone and there is an argument for the old Central League format.
To a certain extent I agree mate, but we usually know about highly promising youngsters before they make an FA Youth Cup impact, Rooney of course was well signposted as a potential young super star before his cup exploits. Gordon and Samuels-Smith made little impact in the Youth Cup but stood out as the best in their year. It’s a bit sad that we need ” good enough “ young players who are not so good that we can’t keep them.

Some of them will clash with League Cup matches and perhaps international breaks. It's best when there is an open window, as there was on Tuesday night.
There's a player in there I think. There's just something about him, i cant put my finger on what, but, he just looks like a player.

yeah I agree, one for nurturing and keep him out of the limelight for a year or two, keep the pressure away from him while he develops
….we’d be needing him to show more than he has so far and definitely delivering something soon.
I reckon he'll be deployed for a few cameos this season
…agree, I’d be wanting to see some signs of effectiveness soon. The fact he gets game time suggests (to me) that he shows something in training so @roy vernon and you could be right. Fingers crossed, let’s not forget he’s costing £15m.
