I think we may be being a bit more duplicitous than that. A sort of; "Well Wilf, your transfer request hasn't changed anything, we said you can go if a suitable bid came in and that's still the case. We're just trying to line up some adequate replacements. It's not easy."
Running down the clock and then trying to ease Wilf back on side with an arrangement that suits all parties in Jan / June 2020.

That's all fair enough. None of us really know what was promised to Zaha so it's hard to know who, if anyone, is being unreasonable.

I think the risk however is that you will get nowhere near as much money next season. And agents with up and coming young players will remember this and be very wary of their players joining palace. It's an unwritten rule, but there's a hierarchy in football and players and agents expect players to be allowed to move up the ladder. I'd happily remove all these greedy agents from the game, but unfortunately you need to work with them and make the best of it.

We've been on the receiving end of quite a few of these scenarios and it stings, but ultimately there's very little to gain from keeping very unhappy players. You can cope in January windows, but it's very difficult when it's a summer window. This is possibly an exception though because of how over reliant palace are on one player.

I don't think this has a massive impact if he has. He's still contracted to them so has to train. Or he could be at the training ground to push things through. No one knows what's happening.
