Good old Wilf, tearing it up when his team needs him

Cart Horse
Rightly or wrongly, I expect that it will pan out like this: he'll be rubbish until late October / early November, before deciding to lace up his shooting boots.

Will that be because he's having a sulk due to the fact they didn't let him go before he eventually realises that he needs to put himself in the shop window, again?

Or am I being cynical? If they won't let him go in January, then maybe any poor form will run slightly longer, before he decided he needs to attract some suitors.

Even if he is still not really setting the world alight, I would put a bid in for him as long as the price is right: £30m-40m wouldn't be a bad deal.

Hodgson was spouting something on this the other day. Reads like Palace said that the right offer didn’t come from a club that they think he should go to. (What was thought at the time) Dangerous game they’re playing and if things go bad for them they’ll potentially get a fraction of what they could have got from us albeit they have him on a long term deal.

Woy says....
“With Wilf, I don’t think anyone was thinking we definitely must block him because we want our best player still with us.

“We understood that if a really big offer comes his way and a much bigger club than Crystal Palacewant him, and he is desperate to go, we are going to have to try and do some kind of deal.

“The unfortunate thing for Wilf is that offer did not come his way from the sort of club that he would want. I think Steve Parish has made that clear to Wilf and they’ve thrashed that side of it out.

“As a result it is not a major problem for me with Wilf coming back, having accepted the situation. The way he works here is just the same as it was. Since the first day he has been mature about it.”

Hes basically saying our offer was fine but they would want him to go to a bigger club.

So they rejected us as opposed to the deal.

Which is total nonsense as if Burnley or someone similar offered them £100mil they would take it.

Hence why Zaha was clearly frustrated and put in the transfer request...

I think Oct/Nov/Dec he will put in some effort and get the move...i think hes playing within himself to get the price down.

Iwobi is an upgrade on bolasie, zaha has the potential to be world class.
You have to remember he plays under hodgson in a poor palace team.

The transfer should of happened at the start of the transfer window so palace could find replacements not on the last day in a move that would of got them relegated

That was poor by brands

Zaha? World class? You’re insane .

Just how can Parish refuse to grant the move on the grounds we weren’t a big enough club? Most importantly Zaha wanted to come, he obviously saw us as the right club to enhance his career. The decision to not take the money in the summer has backfired on palace. As many predicted they are left with a disgruntled player whose performances have been affected by his inability to get the move.

Even the crystal palace fans think their cub is the same level as us but it's not just CP fans, even Watford fans are the same.

Shows how fans see our club these days.

The point I was making mate, regardless of what their fans view of is. Is how parish can block the sale as we aren’t a big enough club, when it was plainly obviously the player did see us as the club to progress his career.

Think the palace board have been very short sighted, they should have accepted a bid from us or Arsenal and taken good money for him £50m plus a player from us would have been a great deal for them, they could have signed about 3 more players and would perhaps have been mid table this season. Instead they have kept the player, he is not working for them and its affecting the dressing room.
If they get offers in January it's going to be for a lot less.
This reminds me of when we tried to keep Lescott, City made a bid, we rejected it, he said he didn't feel right to play. moyes played him anyway and he basically just stood there while Arsenal scored a hat ful of goals, think we lost 1-6 in the end. Thankfully the window didn't close before the season started and we were able to sell him to City.

He is a very good player playing in a 1 man team. This is why teams double up on him because place have no other threat. If we signed him he would have more space and and time on the ball due to us having better players all round. I think if we are in or just off top 6 come January we need to try again for him that could be difference, plus Zouma on loan with view to buy in the summer but that’s my opinion.
