Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Don’t like the idea of Soucek, or Coufal. I think Moyes on the whole for West Ham signing players was pretty poor. I don’t see why we should be scraping the bottom of the barrel now. New stadium, new owners, let’s go and try and get some teams best players.

Forward, see if Ivan Toney fancies a return to the big time. Let’s see if Bowen, Richarlison, Robinson, Wharton, all fancy a go. Let’s have a proper go this time around.

Age, fee, wages.

Throw in our best "oldie" Gareth Barry who was still boss at 37 when he left us

He's relatively young

wages probably won't be bad

It's the fee that's the problem

Big difference now, is we wouldn’t be signing an Ashley young this summer. I said in a different post, we will only be getting players of a certain age on loans or free’s
We won’t be spending 15/20mil on a soucek

It's not 1995 mate, the days of us being able to buy the best players from the bottom half clubs are gone. With the TV deal their income is similar to ours. Those players you've highlighted would cost £200 million on fees plus extras and we'd fail psr.

I'm not sure its gone mate - its just we've regressed.

We live in a world were our best players see a move to Villa or Newcastle as a step up.

Reversing that is our job of work.

We'll be signing whoever we can afford who will add to the team either as first team or for depth, I don't think age will matter

I disagree. We still have the ability to sign good players and we are certainly more attractive than Bournemouth, Brentford, Palace, West Ham. We just have to make a statement signing or two and hopefully a few others get on board.

instead of going for Soucek we could bring in another rangy box to box midfielder from our academy called Harrison Armstrong for no fee and on minimal wages

we have Gana, Garner and Iroegbunam and hopefully Alcaraz who can all play there too. We could also possibly sing Doucoure on much lower wages which the reports suggest he's possibly open too.

if Soucek was on a free I'd say it was a good signing but not for a fee

this is the kind of transfer that has financially crippled us and left us with a squad of aging and finished players that we cant shift

Coufal, because he's a free agent, is one I'd be more inclined to go with, even though Soucek is a better player

However, I'd rahter we looked at one of, if not both Tariq Lamptey and/or Kyle walker Peters who are younger, more versatile, faster, and I think, better players

Probably on lower wages too

Its not a 35m loss if he helps us win football games.

I get the upside of buying young players, but you need experience to go with it.

People who think we will buy a load of 17 year olds this Summer are in for a shock.

People who dont think we'll buy plenty of u23s are in for a shock.

At the risk of going full scale Leeds 22 - 23 where every player gets called amazing depsite the team being pants, Sunderland have about 4 or 5 players I wouldn't be against us signing

Neil
Rigg
Bellingham
Cirkin

Is my guess

Thanks Vin.

Yep was linked yesterday as well.

Someone linked us with Tyler Dibling earlier as well.

My dream is alive...

Moshiri bought just as many bad younger players as he did older.
People ignoring this really grinds my gears. Signing players over 26, signing players coming down from top clubs, signing players with PL experience, signing players from certain leagues, signing a number of players in the same window etc etc. None of them are an issue in their own right, the fact that we made a monumental balls up of things for a few years does not mean that we need a blanket ban on ever doing those things again, we just have to do it better.
