Everton Summer transfers 2021

I kind of see a range of options but none of them really reflect well on him. We are either totally ignoring him or he is being led by each manager. It's also clear has has no say on the managerial appointments. We don't seem to buy lots of broadly good players either, but seem to get guys who are specialists in very specific systems of each manager and then wonder why they become redundant when it all changes. And as you say, we are repeating the same mistakes again this summer.

So either he's signing off on it, or he just doesn't get his voice heard. The latter is the best case scenario, but I kind of think there's not really a lot of point him being here.
As I understand it, when it comes to Marcel Brands you're suppose to pick one side, you're not allowed to be logical. Those who defend Brands so adamantly constantly claim that he's overlooked and not allowed to do the job he was hired to do, all good signings are his and all poor signings are down to the managers or Farhad.
Likewise, those who think he's the devil stealing a wage insist all the bad signings are his, he was brought in find these hidden gems in South America which he hasn't, brought in to bin the deadweight and make some money back and he hasn't and any good players we've acquired during his tenure were thanks to Mangers intervention.... Silva with Richie and Digne, Carlo with Allan and James etc.
I sit firmly in the middle. I do question why we have a DoF when we don't allow him to do the job but at the same time i question why a man of such integrity (as per his reputation) is happy to stay quiet, take his fat wage like a good boy and not just walk out?
It doesn't help that he doesn't speak, the only paper he gives interviews to is that one in Holland, he doesn't even speak to the OS so we really don't know how he feels... and depending on whether you camp Brands In or camp Brands Out you can pretty much bend the situation to suit your own narrative.
What is clear is he's not Director of Football so like you i really don't see the point of him being here.

People are losing it for pages and pages (you included) about longstaff and Rondon, neither have signed for us. It’s very strange behaviour
Right, so you aren't concerned that we don't have a first team right back capable of playing the entire season and we have otherr glaring issues with the squad a week out from the season? Remove the links, and I am "not losing it" I am criticising the direction of travel of a club I support. Five hundred million spent and no further forward in five years, in fact we are in such a hole we can't spend and the players we are linked with aren't good enough. If we can't criticise that on a club forum then where else apart from twitter/facebook can we?!

A year ago, Paddy Boyland in The Athletic posted this about our scouting network

“Everton’s network meets often, meets frequently, meets every week. They have scouts positioned in all the major European countries.

“They have an Eredivisie scout. They have a Belgian league scout, they have a scout for South America. They have a guy that straddles Italy and the Balkans.

“The reason they have that scout is because they’ve commissioned reports, independent reports, and they’ve found that the Balkans is one of the main providers of undervalued talent.

“So, yeah, obviously [it’s] important for them to try and find that in the current climate and then they also have guys, obviously, that work quite extensively in the UK. So, they meet and it’s quite a thorough process, actually.”

So it seems that we having a scouting network - which is ultimately getting paid to do absolutely nothing
It all sounds very professional and thorough but the proofs in the pudding! look at the squad we have, but more importantly look at the money it cost to assemble this mess. This tells me the scouts aren't very good at all.

Like I've said a few times now this is on Brands.

Moyes will be back in December to get us away from bottom end of table after rs embarass us at Goodison and put an end to this kopite loving twilight zone we're in. CANT WAIT.. Bite me.
So that means Moyes will have made a pigs ear of it this season for him to want to leave and WHU letting him go without sacking him,

…or the scouts recommendations are not being endorsed within the club.

The truth is, I doubt any of us know what’s going on but whatever it is isn’t working.

They are doing their jobs. They scout players, compile reports and make recommendations. It's just that moshiri, brands and all the managers we've had ignore those recommendations and sign tosun and iwobi.

or we have a proper scouting department but all their work end up in the archive, because our current manager says: i have worked with James, Allan and Townsend so please sign them.
And Gray was probably a search on wide players with PL experience less than 2 mill GBP under the age of 30 lol

and we can't sell the dross we currently have because no club in the right mind will touch our cast offs. We can look enviously at the likes of Villa spending like it's going out of fashion, moan about FFP and all that jazz but we're 100% responsible for the terrible mess we're in.

Mate, we are talking about people losing it about unfounded rumours, pages and pages of it. It’s weird

You're absolutely right really. And it would have helped both of those players, as they wouldn't be burdened with that pressure. If the fees, and perhaps crucially wages are reasonable then these signings can be quite useful sticking plasters to allow you to outline younger players to add in.

There is literally nothing we have done for years and years now to suggest we have any semblance of a plan, in any shape or form, including plans to integrate younger players.

All we can do is read the situation as it is at the moment. And it’s plain as day. We are signing really poor players to add to our roster of really poor players.

Everton supporting youngster and squad player Tom Davies is the least of our worries and hes many times the player Longstaff is now. Let Brands the DOF do the signings and the wide one can collect his wages until hes sacked. If Brands has 100% control and still fails he'll need binned too. People need to sink or swim on their own doing their own jobs - without people guessing whos to blame for the shoiteshow dealt up to us fans every year.

Fair enough maybe that is over the top, they may never sign. But the truth is it's a symptom of a deeper issue, and rather than addressing our issues we could be bringing in and targeting(apparently) players who aren't good enough, we could be adding to them! We are trying to move on the deadwood to address our financial issues, most of these players will be deadwood within a season if they join.

I'm pretty sure if the scouts and/or Brands recommended a player, the club would finance it, if not then the DoF position is redundant.

No the opposite - Moyes will have another good season with them and he'll walk out on them when we sack benitez and our job becomes available AGAIN.
