Everton Summer transfers 2021

I am a glass half full person, I generally can see positives in all situations. I am struggling with the current situation at Everton. Solomon Rondon and Sean Longstaff, these players aren’t Premier League standard never mind being good enough for a solid mid table club like ourselves. I understand we can’t buy enough quality players and pay them while we have the liam, the sick and the lazy bunch we have currently sucking the club dry.
The time has come were we have to be brutal, we have to sack players or release them from their contracts. I know this will be costly and will probably dictate that we bring in players who are not going to make us any better in the short term but at least we would be working towards a time when we could start to improve. We are starting to look like a club who need to be relegated before we can improve.
Sack them for what???? And who in their right mind would sign for us if we started doing that?

All the links make no sense at all.

We want rid of James & Mina because of the huge wage.....so we get linked with Coutinho & Koulibally....erm...are these other players paid with thin air !?!
Coutinho won't happen mate, he along with Messi and Greizman are the main reason Barca are in such a mess because they are on such huge wages, it's twice what James is on. Koulibally is the sort who will want to just play so i can see some possible wiggle room there. Tbh I'm not that confident we will sign anyone else.

Players who would see a club trying to get itself out of the mire, players who could see real ambition, players who would see a club not willing to tolerate lazy, half hearted and greedy players holding others back. Maybe we would get in some players who would see that if they came to Goodson with the right attitude they wouldn’t be held back by others just marking time collecting big wages and not contributing. Maybe we would get some players who have an eye for success and not the type we attract now. We are like a rest home where players come to take it easy and get well paid. We are a team where you pass the ball sideways or back, where you don’t make lung bursting runs forward or back. We have stagnated and attract stagnant players. Our plan seems to be one of letting contracts run down and then letting players leave, releasing players from their contracts is a way of speeding up the process and hopefully saving a few quid. Let’s have a proactive approach to improving and not this death by a thousand cuts we seem to be engaged in.

Goals from midfield are where brands is really a massive failure. We have so many midfielders who offer nothing in the final third. Doucoure has scored 3 in league and cup which puts Gomes, Allan, Delph, Iwobi, Bernard and Davies to shame. With 3 friggin goals.

Why we were not all over Periera I will never know. You stop DCL and Richarlison and you stop everton.

…goals and assists from wide areas is vital but history shows it’s not really a requirement from central midfield (Gomes, Allan, Delph, Davies etc).

I dont see any of them happening, its more a point that whey are the media linking us with players taht would be on the same or similar wage as the ones we supposed to want rid of, it makes no sense. They should just say nothing.

The only way I can see them, is if we get them both on loan and only pay half the wages.

My feeling, and has been all along, is thet Rafael just wants James gone, and its nothing to do with this wages.

Hope that people are re-evaluating how much of a positive influence Moyes was during his time at the club

Back when we had no money (Around 2008-09) the team that finished the 2008 season was:

Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Lescott, Yobo, Neville, Osman, Rodwell, Pienaar, Cahill, Saha

We finished 5th that season - With a team that cost (in total) less than Alex Iwobi
Moyes will be back in December to get us away from bottom end of table after rs embarass us at Goodison and put an end to this kopite loving twilight zone we're in. CANT WAIT.. Bite me.

Today’s Everton are the sort of team that moyes’ Everton would have gone to to get a bargain and convert them into a decent player

Yes absolutely. His position is becoming more and more doubtful in my eyes. He is either presiding over this appalling recruitment, or he has no control over it. Either option does not bode well.

I kind of see a range of options but none of them really reflect well on him. We are either totally ignoring him or he is being led by each manager. It's also clear has has no say on the managerial appointments. We don't seem to buy lots of broadly good players either, but seem to get guys who are specialists in very specific systems of each manager and then wonder why they become redundant when it all changes. And as you say, we are repeating the same mistakes again this summer.

So either he's signing off on it, or he just doesn't get his voice heard. The latter is the best case scenario, but I kind of think there's not really a lot of point him being here.

If Rondon came in and scored winning goals off the bench to make us finish 7th instead of 10th then the prize money alone has made a short term deal worth it.

Or we can stay as we are - finish 10th-12th and cry about how bad the manager is and how he needs sacking.

The key thing for me is how much are you paying for such players. We were told the wages of Townsend, Gray and Begovic were between 100-150k combined. Even at the upper figure, it's 60k each for Townsend and Gray with 30k for Begovic. There's no fee involved. I know it's a long shot, but if you can lose Kean for a decent fee, and get a guy much cheaper to sit on the bench it suits. It also means, if DCL is injured, or needs a rest, he is at least a comparable style of striker so everything else doesn't have to get ripped up.

This will sound odd, but I'd rather have Rondon for free than Chris Wood for £40m.

100% mate - if we had signed Iwobi for £1.5 million and Walcott on a free transfer we wouldn't be in this mess!
