Totally agree, I don’t believe he is good enough either, but can’t get over the hate of a guy who hasn’t kicked a ball for us yet.
All because of a rumour in a crap media outlet who haven’t get anything right for years

Need to keep the blankets dry until he is holding up a shirt, and then I would get behind him as he is better than Delph and Gomez
There’s hundreds of pages of similar examples of people losing on the back of a cheap rumour. Very strange

Have I woken up in 2009 or something?

Back to scrimping and saving
It's less about scrimping and saving and rather making the business model sustainable because we can't simply keeping loads ourselves with fees and wages.

There is the funds aspect, which may not be as great as previous years, but if we sign three or four players without offloading wages then it'll be unsustainable.

While Townsend and Gray clearly aren't free, they're more sustainable options if we don't move players on - basically likely to be affordable within the structure.

If we want good acquisitions, we have to free up funds and importantly wages otherwise we might end up brining X, Y and Z in and still lumbered with dross.

On one hand, it's incredibly frustrating that we're not really improving the squad, yet on the other hand it's to some extent good that we're not wasting money.

Longstaff played 13 games in total under Benitez.

I am baffled by those thinking he'd be a good signing honestly. Being 'potentially' better than Davies and Delph does not mean he's good enough.
Good enough for what mate? If he improves our awful midfield 5% then he’s good enough.

I haven't watched enough of him to have an opinion tbh mate - I remember all the "£50m to Man Utd" stories etc about him at the time, and I know he's fallen off the radar since. What I would say is that if we are shifting Gomes and Delph, on the assumption we bring someone in to replace one of those, I'm simply not that bothered about swapping Davies for Longstaff as you're talking about a 5th choice centre mid potentially. If he fancies Longstaff over Davies, fair enough, I can't imagine it'll make that much of a difference either way, but in the unlikely event he gets Longstaff back to the sort of form which was making everyone pay attention a couple of years ago then fair enough, it was worth doing.

Willock scored more in his last 7 games than Gomes, Allan, Doucoure, Delph, Gbamin and Iwobi have done in their entire Everton careers combined. We could have done a lot worse than him (and probably will)
That is absolutely insane!!! Head spinningly insane. And there are folk in the Brands thread trying to say he’s not been too bad and we need to wait another 3/4 years to judge him…

‘good under Rafael’, yeah that's the problem.
What's he going to be like in 6 months when Fat Benny has been sacked? and how many years will it take to get him off the wage bill so we can get someone competent in?
If FFP is the issue stopping us buying players this season could we not take players like Dunfries on a loan with obligation to buy next season, I don't know if this is possible but I put it forward as a possibility.

I am shocked on how much hate Sean Longstaff is getting.

I know he isn't the Hollywood signing but he is a good Premier League player who was lined up by United for £50m not too long ago.

To be fairly honest I'd rather have him over Delph or Gomes.

I don't think it's hate mate it's just that he doesn't bring anything more than what Davies does.

Also the Man U £50m stuff, Man U hadn't made a £50m bid, it was reported that they were interested in the lad so Newcastle then come out and said he wasn't for sale and put the £50m price tag on him.

Definitely possible but I guess it’s up to the club selling the player to decide whether that’s acceptable to them.
