Harry Winks though?

Ticks all the boxes to be an Everton midfielder.

Can't score.
Can't tackle.
Goes missing in games.
Gets injured a lot.
Ive seen worse.

I can see the thinking behind Winks. He keeps the ball moving and he has a decent range of passes. I just have concerns around his injury record.

Also, is he the type of defensive midfielder we need? If Lampard is going for 433 we need someone with a bit more bite than him from that central position.

Nah. He did his ankle ligaments. A common Spurs shout is "if it wasn't for his injuries..."

He's probably better than Andre Gomes in that ticking over position but not at all convinced on him.

I actually really rated winks a couple of years ago, not that he was a world beater but he looked like a very good player in that role. I’m not sure what’s happened over the last couple of years but he’s evidently gone backwards and I’m not sure I’d be looking at him now.

I'd prefer Everton to go for an emerging talent in centre midfield.

IMO that lad at Huddersfield Jon Russell is going to be a PL player sooner rather than later. He looks very comfortable on the ball and commanding and very aggressive.

I'd offer Huddersfield £10M for him.

?

42 points would be 3 games clear of relegation this season. That some margin of error. And I would anticipate with an actual preseason with the squad, and not coming in mid season at rock bottom, he would be more clear than that even with the same squad.
We were technically safe with 3 games left this season but we didn't know it.
