£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

If they are happy to bid 40mill for Sig then im sure they will pay whatever it takes! If we want a player we dont care how much he costs we will take him!! :D

If He hands in a transfer request how would that change things?

depends on his contract, in some instances if players don't ask for a transfer, it means when they are sold the selling club has to "pay up their contract" so if they have 4 years remaining and are on £2m a year the selling club has to give the player £8m out of the transfer fee they receive.

if they ask for a transfer by formally submitting a transfer request, the player forfeits this and the selling club gets to keep the £8m

No way should we even be bidding this much for this guy, he’s not worth it. I’ll be pissed if we bid anymore.

We could have a young, top prospect from Europe who’s already as good for half the price.

This is based on guessing. Who is going to come at half the price and hit the ground rightaway?

He would be the kind of player we was linked with 5 years ago too......its the just price is inflated.

He gets nowere near any team above us.

Have to disagree - I would compare him position wise to Llallana, both good players of very similar ability.

He wouldn't look out of place in either Arsenal or United's sides either.

Barkley has more talent. But we're still waiting for him to realise it.

You're waiting for a very good player to become a world class player, because we all know he potentially could be.

That's fine - but meanwhile he's still a very good player.

Sigurdsson is a good option for a few positions, which Koeman likes, so I'm definitely not averse to bringing him in. But people are making out like he's a technical magician with the ball who can spray passes left, right and centre - he isn't though; he's just good, which is fine.

But "good" isn't something you spend £50m on, even in today's market.

He gets nowere near United or Arsenals team, bench.

We don't know what the add ons are and the rooney deal was apparently completely separate
We know (from Paul Joyce who has as close to a 100% Everton transfer record as it's possible to have) that it's £15m in "easily attainable add-ons".

It's widely accepted that while the deals were technically separate, that United waived a fee for Rooney in exchange for a £10m reduction in Lukaku's asking price (from £100m to £90m)

Don't really understand why fans bang about pace so much.

Scholes, Lampard, Keane, Vieira, Toure, Fabregas, Carrick, Makelele, Alonso.....none of them were speed merchants.

They had ronaldo, giggs, henry, aguero, hazard, et al around them though...

I think we have pace in the squad - mirallas, lewin, lookman, bolaise, lennon, coleman, barkley - then players like gana/davies/mccarthy/schneiderlin who are sharp...

We will have so many options next year - don't see perceived lack of pace being a problem.

So THAT'S how you turn down a bid that doesn't match the stated value for a player

£100m for Lukaku? Nah, 75 should do it

We're getting £90m - plus Rooney - for Rom.

If Rom doesn't get those add ons I'd imagine he'll have been the biggest flop of the summer.
