£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

It's not we're never happy. I'd love siguardsson at the club as much as anyone and have maintained that stance since we were first linked. However I really think the club is being taken for a ride, paying 50m for a player who will turn 28 next month, sets a dangerous precedent, in our future transfer policy, that clubs can ask absurd prices and we will meekly go along with it.
If the money is there and the board are willing to pay it, who are we to judge what a player is worth? "The Market" does that. We pay what we're told or we look elsewhere. Or we don't, and keep pursuing a player that our Manager obviously wants...

every deal in any business has a "walk away" price. So should this. If the walk away price is £50m this should just be done. If it's less, we should have moved on already.

Ask City fans are they bothered about the dough spent on Robinho???Got to break a few eggs to make omelette, listen all transfers are a gamble, players can break their legs and its game over.

i believe we're spending what we think we can afford so just go with it.

I just don't get why or how people
Can complain after our hideous past ffs wake up people

When this all started I thought he'd be a decent signing for 30/35m but hardly one to get enthused over. Solid, proven in the league etc.
I know this graphic's been posted to death but who else on the list would you be able to get for £50m?
Maybe Fabregas cos he's what 32? If he was even available he'd sign for someone like Juve or Monaco to play his last few seasons with guaranteed champions league.
How much would Alli, Ozil or Eriksen set you back? Or Coutinho, Hazard, De Bruyne who didn't even make the list?
And all this, no disrespect to Swansea, in a much weaker side without genius forwards to feed.
The longer this goes on I'm starting to think Swansea's valuation might be fair and it's the rest of us doing the catching up.
Sanity check?

I'm sorry I don't think he is worth 50m at a 25 year old never mind a 28 year old .. he's alright like but won't have a sell on value and their has has to be better players we can bring in for 50m or less.

I know before anyone starts were not thinking of selling him on but in 2 to 3 years time ...

It's quite impressive but I wish these types of stats were based on minutes played. Think that's far more accurate. Bet someone like Cazorla would be top 5 if he wasn't injured every game he tried to play.

The concern Matty is that if we have, say, another 75m to spend, spending 50m on Sigi makes little sense as I feel that sort of fee should be going towards a top striker or cb.
If however we have the funds to do all the above, then spend the 50m and move on to the next target.
It's a bit unknown how much we have to spend.

interesting to read the BBC article saying it was our first bid today for him. I assumed we had already had a bid rejected. If that's true, this is the first bid, then negotiations have just started and we'll haggle over the price. Outcome...he will sign by the end of this week. Hoping anyhow :)

But mate ok - koeman clearly wants to get this over the line right? Then it's our nxt target which will be a striker and the money will be there. Give me this anyday over the past - anyday. It's also showing our intentions mate we mean business

It's encouraging that we have this kind of money to spend.

If we get into that top 6 this season, we'll arguably be in a better position to get value for money in future.

I don't see this too much we will be in the same position.. it's just that we will be fine tuning instead of a overhaul
