It's not about that, it's about being able to buy the centre back and striker we're desperate for. We don't have a never ending pot of gold like people seem to think.
Thing is striker yes but desperate for a center back? Nope we're not.

Under the previous regime Lukaku would have been sold last summer for 50m and half the money reinvested. That's the big difference now that some can't see....so under the previous regime we would've seen the same spend as this summer and the significant hike in our salary structure? Even with the expected Lukaku monies I doubt that would've been the case. Indeed, the spend was largely made before the Lukaku income.
It's a bit daft to suggest we go out and spend the same amount again if the prime targets have been acquired. I know you don't like the club to be wasteful.
Nothing wrong with that @davek, just good housekeeping.
Can you explain how we're not desperate for one mate, without reeling off a load of awful ones we currently have?
...most clubs taken over and who have a billionaire promising big changes dont see their own family silver pawned to finance squad 'investment'.As is with most clubs.
Exactlysorry but i can't get my head around this thinking.
How will we look like mugs. Every single one of our main targets we've gone after and bought. Look at united with about 4/5 players, the RS with keita and van dijk, chelsea with lukaku. They've all missed/are missing out on their top targets and are settling for their backup options, that to me is being classed as mugs. We're making a statement by saying that we don't care if we're being taken for a ride, we're going out and landing our first choice targets. The same way as man city are.
How can you think showing strength is termed as "accepting swansea have won the battle and walking away and then deciding to pay the very same amount for a backup option, one who is nowhere near potential, has flopped at his current gaff, has never player in the premier league and is still a raw youngster?"
I'd cry if we spent all that money on him, he's done nothing deserving of the hype so far imo, a couple of good performances here and there and you want to throw £45m at that? Hmm. I think we'd look like right mugs seeing our number 1 target turn out for swansea whilst we wait about 4 or 5 years to see if our purchase actually works out.
Hernades scored 9 in 33 games for real madrid im assuming most as sub. And 39 in 76 for leverkusen since leaving man u. So 48 goals. Im assuming addition is not your strongest trait. He's scored about 15 goals since leaving United, 2 years ago.
Give um Niasse plus 49.9mWe are now in a market, were City £50 million has been spent on a right back. The market has gone crazy. Sigurdsson is probably worth £50 million in terms of his ability, premier league experience and to Swansea. But he is 28 if doubt he'll have a decent sell on value in a couple of years. Are we in a position to spend this type of money, with the knowledge, in two years time he might only be worth a fraction of that? Could we sweeten the deal for them, with a loan player?
But that's what was required and it's what nearly every club uses - Spurs and Liverpool and probably Arsenal included.Do you actually believe the nonsense about Moshiri spending cash? This is player trading cash mate. Simple as that. Same old financial model in play.
Can you explain how we're not desperate for one mate, without reeling off a load of awful ones we currently have?
They're called "shares" mate. He owns that stock. And he owns the club debt...which he'll turn into stock.Lol. So you are claiming the money he put into the club are loans. Ok.
So what you're saying is we should have given them an ultimatum...

As for why we have messed up.
It was clear swansea wanted 50million. The player wants to join us. Leicester make 40 mil bid thats rejected. What do we do? Offer 40 mil. Stupid waste of time. They want 50 million thats it! Its non negotiable so we should have paid it and got him in weeks ago.
