£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

Hernades scored 9 in 33 games for real madrid im assuming most as sub. And 39 in 76 for leverkusen since leaving man u. So 48 goals. Im assuming addition is not your strongest trait.

As for why we have messed up.
It was clear swansea wanted 50million. The player wants to join us. Leicester make 40 mil bid thats rejected. What do we do? Offer 40 mil. Stupid waste of time. They want 50 million thats it! Its non negotiable so we should have paid it and got him in weeks ago.

Chill out ffs.

It's called negotiating.

The player never wanted Leicester. That gave us the upper hand.

We've supposedly had two bids rejected now. One that Joyce claimed initially was around £30m+ add ons - which was lodged a while back but only got reported around two weeks ago - and the other one being our latest of £40m + add ons, which is more than reasonable really.

If it comes to it, I'm sure we'll pay the full fee, but it's unlikely we'll go over £40m up front I'd say. The issue will more than likely be the add ons.

lol have you heard of negotiate? No? Didn't think so. Most clubs go with a lower offer than what is wanted before going back and re negotiating

It's like talking to a wall with all these moaners that were spending money or have messed it up lol. You Coudnt make this up

...most clubs taken over and who have a billionaire promising big changes dont see their own family silver pawned to finance squad 'investment'.

Another Everton first.
We are Everton who finished 7th and qualified for the EL. We are never going to stockpile superstar players. Player trading to improve us is the way to go for now. Players who want to leave are first to go, then we will look at who is not good enough. We will see the investment I believe, not just yet as there is no need.

...so under the previous regime we would've seen the same spend as this summer and the significant hike in our salary structure? Even with the expected Lukaku monies I doubt that would've been the case. Indeed, the spend was largely made before the Lukaku income.

It's a bit daft to suggest we go out and spend the same amount again if the prime targets have been acquired. I know you don't like the club to be wasteful.
Yes. Unequivocally yes.

Before Kenwright stepped aside we had net spends of £20+M.

This is right in line with a Kenwright regime's way of operating.

As said: another carpetbagger. Add Moshiri to the names of Kenwright, Gregg and Earl.

Just a signing I would never understand.

All the analysis I've seen shows he plays in exactly the same position (i.e. every touch of his analysed for last 5 years) as Rooney and Klaassen. So we would have signed 3 players for the same position.

Where would he play in Koemans' 4-3-3 formation? Wide on the left? The same position that was blamed for his poor performances for Spurs and where his lack of pace and inability to beat a player would be exposed. If we don't sign a tall striker then his one strength, crosses into the box in open space, is instantly negated.

Nothing wrong with ultimatums when you can actually enforce them.

See how it works?

In which case the club should have been more forceful with Ross, I agree.

One thing they have done this summer is back the manager with money, though it's poor they didn't fully back him on this when he said he wanted it sorted - and it's been poor form from Ross or his advisors throughout (not his public stance, btw - I'm happy that he's a private lad who wants to keep things in house), but seemingly he has still not made a decision or informed the club of it.

Jags is 35 and not a serious option in the Premier League anymore. Williams looked gone towards the end of last season. We cannot get by on one good centre back, we just cannot.

Well unless you want to stick this new center half upfront then we have to either wait as we have a striker to get first or rely on the centre halves we have.

Hehehehe

But that's what was required and it's what nearly every club uses - Spurs and Liverpool and probably Arsenal included.

Three clubs have the luxury of not having to, and even Chelsea have done so anyway in previous years.

Yes, we'd have loved to keep Lukaku, but he didn't want to be here so we've got a world record fee for him.

In the past, you know full well that wouldn't have been spent on several £30m players. It'd have been our entire budget. It isn't this year.

To keep pedalling that is utter tosh.

Deulofeu and Cleverley - two squad players who had no impact on the side - have brought in £18.5m between them, taking our up front takings (not inc. the Rom add ons) to £93.5m this summer, plus the fees of McGeady (250k) plus Kone (free) off the books.

We've brought in - again I'm not counting the add ons here - two players for £50m between them in Pickford and Keane.

Sandro is a snip at £5.2m, while Henri cost us £6.8m - so that's another £12m there; £62m so far.

Klaassen is £24m, giving us £86m 'reinvested' - leaving us, not counting add ons, approx £7.5m in the black so far this summer. Rooney and Martina are clearly on frees, though Rooney's wages are a big leap for us.

That to me, is great business. We've improved the squad by moving on players who weren't good enough or didn't want to be here. This needed to be done.

It's why, in the grand scheme, our £40m bid for Gylfi is irrelevant. We're still in profit so far and if the net spend mutants want to be pleased then they should be thrilled with this.

We are also chasing a striker, and another option for the defence. All in these three players will most likely cost £80m at the least.

Hypothetically, lets say that's the case and we add another £80m to the £86m spent so far (no add ons), giving us £186m total.

The only two first team players that may now leave imo are McCarthy - squad player at best - and Ross.

That'd be £55m easy between them, but we'd still be £20m in the red for this window even then.

I'd have no issue with that. The sale of Rom was always going to cause disparity and people seem to think that we should stockpile players for the sake of it. There's no need.

If Rom hadn't have left, we wouldn't need to spend big on a striker anyway.

Next year will be the litmus test if it comes to it that we are in the situation where we need to just add two-three quality players over the course of the window, which given our squad building this summer, you'd like to think that's a scenario we should be in come July 2018.
That's just making a virtue out of a necessity.

We didn't afford Kenwright that level of spin, why should we give it to Moshiri?
