I'm all for sell to buy with our young players amd academy. Sadly were still doing it at first team level. But in the meantime we need to overpay on replacements so we eventually get to a place where none of our first teamers ever want out.

Do we think the 7 teams above us, perhaps barring Spurs at a push, think about resale value when they are buying players who will win them League / Cups?
City haven't bought Kyle Walker in the hope that they can sell him in the future for a decent price.
They've bought him because they believe he fits exactly what they need and are willing to pay a premium.

There's no "world class" players going to be joining us anytime soon so you're argument is fundamentally flawed. We either pay slightly too much on the players who will improve us, or we refuse to embroiled in the current market sitting smugly that we weren't shafted by anyone.
