Cheers for the input. You rate llorente? How much will he go for ? To sit on chelsea bench !!

Even at the age of 32, Llorente oozes class. Any decent cross or set piece into the box and he will bury it. The guy's a born winner and was instrumental in our final five games of the season where we picked up 13 points from 15, as well as other high pressure games such as away at Anfield where he scored a brace. I'd much rather we keep Llorente than sign someone like Bony. Whether he stays comes down to what he values more; regular playtime in his twilight years, or sit on the bench and win a few more trophies. Should he go, I'd expect £15-20m.

Nickel and diming while we're still red raw from this window as it is, seems pointless. Just throw a glob of Vaseline on it and get him bought ffs.

Nice one mate. Hopefully sig gets sorted early next week n both clubs can move onto other targets.
Good luck

Dont get me wrong I think Sigurdsson is a great player and we are crying out for a dead ball specialist, especially corners. But I just cant help thinking that 40-50 mil for this player is too much. We would get hardly any re-sale value in comparison to the fee paid.

With reference to comments made by the 'Special One' regarding the possibility of the arse falling out of the TV money in the PL should we be making such a huge outlay for this player? Surely there is a young talented midfielder out there (domestic or foreign) for that sort of money that we would not take a crippling hit on should the worst happen. Slightly off topic would like to see Dowell given some game time in the right sort of games eg 2-0 up at home.

So to avoid some tax your owners are putting your whole pre season preparations in danger, given that the season is only around the corner. Sound like all they are doing is penny pinching.

When a new manager comes in it's always nice to have some money to put his stamp on the team and that is also being put In jeopardy.

Completely agreed. For a team that survived by the skin of its teeth last season and is desperately short of quality, the owners are playing a very dangerous game. Clement is a good manager, but he isn't a miracle worker. Players take time to bed in and we're putting the manager at a major disadvantage the longer the Sigurdsson saga drags on. I've been saying from the start of the window that, should any bid in excess of £40m come in, then a deal should be done. I think it's a fair value in this market and gives the manager something to work with.

The reason we were so poor in the first half of last season was due to the takeover and the uncertainty surrounding the club's future. At one stage things looked positive, but any optimism fans had has almost completely evaporated this Summer. I can't help but feel envious of Everton seeing the effort that Moshiri has put in to acquire quality this Summer.

The frightening thing for Swansea is (if true) they will have to pay the tax regardless but it just looks like your owners don't want to use their own money to do it by the looks of it? Investors that don't invest.

It's similar to the reason under Kenwright we always sold late on as well mate, amongst other reasons obviously

From all accounts Conte is a big fan of his from their time together at Juventus and, if reports are correct, he'd surely have him at Chelsea as well.

He's not exactly what we require but for the reported fee of around £15-20m I'd more than happily have him as a second or third option here.

The tax issue does make sense if they have cash flow issues. The chargeable gain wouldn't be due for payment till 9 months after the end of the July 18 period. But they will still pay at 20%. The falling rate isn't going to come soon enough.

Personally think this is just face saving not tax so I'll not bore anyone longer.

Wasn't one of the main reasons you survived by the skin of your teeth down to Sigurdsson? If you sold him to us and got around £45m you have to then go out and replace him with someone of, or close to his quality. Even if you went out and spent the money on 2/3 players, and with the way transfer fees are going you're not going to get much for your money.

With the premier league being a massive gravy boat, maybe your owners see him as the one asset who can help you to keep on that gravy boat.
