Plenty of non top-tier CL players would come to prem for wages/step-up in league quality (see: Klaassen to us, loads more examples over the years).

The other day I namechecked Bellarabi, Berardi (good shout, but if Chelsea really are interested we will end up with a Perez scenario), Keita Balde (Spurs and RS apparently in and his price shot up to £30 million from the £17 miilion being reported when Lazio were interested the PL premium!), Filipe Anderson, Ziyech (if Koeman isn't interested with his Ajax connections then there must be a reason), Lanzini (no way West Ham would sell to us at any price). For £50m the market opens up even more - Oliver Torres, you can even make enquiries on players like Angel Correa (RS allegedly bid £25 million, so whilst he is cheaper he would not choose us over them in CL) at Atletico and see if heads are turned by more playtime/money.

I also totally don't buy the whole 'premier league proven' thing, just about every best player in the league came from abroad, you just have to be clever with it. I don't think we're being clever with our money, that's all.

Plus all of those in bold are to use Koemans phrase 'less productive' than Sigurdsson in leagues that it is easier to score in.

This summer I wanted to see something to indicate that we were going places with Moshiri and that lessons had been learned from last summer and so far it's looking good.

I still look at Mata and think of him as a Blue.

That's not even getting into taking the Metro at face value in terms of ranking players. The Telegraph isn't much better.

Fact of the matter is that for £50m you can buy 95% of players in Europe. The chances of there not being a better buy than Gylfi out there are so, so slim. It's possible of course, but...so unlikely.

You could say that about any expensive signing.

No easy ride, just realism. Moyes got to 1 final in 22 attempts domestically. Not sure he's any sort a gauge.

The gauge is that Moyes spent less in 10 years than Koeman has spent in 1 but still competed. He couldn't get through a glass ceiling.

Us spending £50million on this 1 player means that ceiling is smashed and so should our expectations.

You can say the same about any transfer. How's Klassen gonna take to the prem? Sandro? Sigurdsson outside being the main man at Swansea?

And why can't we wait a year? Are we on Koeman's clock or Everton as a club building a team?

£40m+ should be buying you top players from top teams who have proven themselves at the higher levels, not from a team that barely escaped relegation.

That said, I still want Sigi. Make it happen, mosh.

Nothing to do with knowing more than Koeman and Walsh. It's more about being sold on how Sigurdsson for that price is worth it if we want to mix it with the big boys.

But the chances are Siggy will work
He's proved himself 3 years in a row in the PL
little or no risk involved compared to buying foreign
As has been pointed out time and time again the top top players Laczette etc WILL NOT sign for us at this point in time so we pay what we have to to get the best we can.
Would you rather we spent 20 m ons championship player and hopes he makes the grade straight away
