What amazes me is that people are complaining about our chairman paying over the odds for a player that our manager has said he wants.
Would you rather he said no and we ended taking a punt on a 10 m no mark from Africa in the hope he cut the mustard.
As was stated earlier Moshiri is Backing Koeman financially
If Koeman flops than Mosh will be within his rights to sack Koeman and Koeman can have no excuse.

You could say that about any expensive signing.

Of course. The point is you want the likelihood of being able to get a better player for the price to be 'possible, but slim' rather than 'as close to certain as it gets'

For example we've signed plenty of players (James Beattie, Andy Johnson, Simon Davies) who haven't replicated their form with us for various reasons.

I'd be surprised if the price was the same for a premier league club, especially us with how we took Walsh from them and the fact we're competing with the for Sigurdsson.

As has been pointed out time and time again the top top players Laczette etc WILL NOT sign for us at this point in time so we pay what we have to to get the best we can.

Yes but if they really want the player and have no viable alternative then they will pay the money
That's how world record transfer fee are set.
RK obviously thinks there is no viable ready to go alternative who will sign for us

There's always a chance that someone we sign won't perform for whatever reason mate. In fact, of the players we've signed for the first team this summer, I'd be surprised if one of them didn't end up being a disappointment in some way. It's just a risk you have to take, and we'll likely have done everything we can, both in reviewing the players and talking to them to mitigate that risk.

Is Sigurdsson worth 45 to 50 million and might he flop ?

Personally I'd say it's hard to justify that price tag and there's a fairly small possibility he might flop, but the money is just numbers these days, and, by doing a lot of our business early, we've likely saved a fair few quid compared to clubs who are only just starting, so, it's a risk, but it's a calculated risk.
