LA played three young players upfront: an 18 year old, a 19 year old, and a 21 year old rookie.

And there were times in the game we looked good. And Jose Villareal (the 19 year old) scored an absolute cracker:

We also were missing our normal center back.

And with that, we actually played a decent game against Real Madrid contrary to the scoreline. Team didn't bunker. I'm proud of the youngsters. RM of course were better (duh), but still, Real Madrid can be had.

And Ronaldo is a tool.

This game is winnable.

(They were slow on the flanks - Seamus in particular will be important).

I am sure it is just a typo, but the official website now has the winner of our game against RM playing for 5th place....

And if you look at the bottom of the page, it gives 2 points for a win and 1 point for a loss on penalties. Why do they have points in a knock out competition?

Unless they've changed it since you've posted it then I don't think you are right.

We are playing Madrid in "match 5" but the winner will play in the final and the loser will play either Milan or Chelsea in the 3rd/4th playoff.

Yes we are match 5, but it says the championship match is between the winners of matches 6 and 8. It is really only the awarding of points which got me thinking......

So we're already a top 4 club.......nice one Roberto........

Are these meffs changing the rules as the tournament goes on? The ICC website now shows the winner of game 5 ie Everton v Real Madrid going to the final. It now seems to show a seeding system for the third place playoff game. So hypothetically, if we lose against Real, the tournament organisers will likely shuffle Juve into the third play play off. I know it's only a pre-season friendly tournament but what the actual feck. Us beating Juve had obviously screwed up the plan and the advertisers and organisers have done a bit of ahem rearranging of the rules to get back to plan A

Short answer is we need to beat Real but what a piss take

Nah, you looked at it wrong. The winner of RM vs. EVE plays the winner of CHE vs. ACM in the final. The loser of those two games face off for the 3rd place game.

The best Juve can hope for is to beat LA and play in the 5th place game against Valencia or Inter.
