2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

I get that spurs have 10 players out, and they could be very different once they have them back. But most premier league clubs have 5 players out at any one time, Bournemouth have 10 players out an they are still finding a way to win. I think for Ange, his refusal to alter how he plays, given the squad he has available, has seen them throw points away. If he doesn't change it, I can see them continuing to lose games.

There are certainly 3 worse teams than Spurs, I would just like us to be above them and for us to put as many league places and points between us and the relegation zone
We saw this ourselves with Martinez. He seemed to ignore the fact we were getting worse defensively as he was too focused on playing beautiful passing football. I wonder if Ange`s cup run and the Europa league form is all that is keeping him from the chop.

I have nothing against spurs, but it would be great to win the next game and go above them. I think if people are saying that we are in a relegation battle then surely Spurs would have to be in that conversation as well, if they were below us?

Id say if we were to win on Saturday, there wouldn't be a conversation to be had in my opinion.

Wed be struggling Full Time, 10 points ahead of Wolves and 9 Ahead of Leicester.

Leicester for their win yesterday will still have to play

United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle at home within their mix.

Forest, Bournemouth, Everton, City, Chelsea & Brighton away.

Id much rather be in our position.

I think winning two games has broken some brains

We are an absolutely AWFUL football team

AWFUL

We can look upwards when we have better players and financial stability

Right now we’re a crap football team scrapping with other crap football teams to see which mountain of excrement smells the least pungent

It’s a survival season

Hopefully the last one in a while if we stay up, but right now it is what it is

Either bunker down and get through it or we play the first competitive game at Bramley Moore in the Championship
Going forward yes, Defensively we are as good as anyone 28 goals let in is a very good stat, 13 of those (almost half) were in our first 4 games, We are not as bad as the media want people to think, the football isn't pretty but we should now be looking up we are 7 points clear game in hand and vastly superior GD.

Spurs on same points as Leicester were in 22/23 when they went down.

The difference this season might be that there are 4 weak teams at the bottom already. That season there was only really Southampton cut adrift and you had Leeds, ourselves, Leicester and Nottingham Forest all closely bunched. They’re all big hitters with big stadiums and at the time Leeds and Forest had some decent players and in Bielsa and Cooper decent managers. I just don’t see that quality anywhere in Southampton, Lecister, Ipswich or Wolves this season which is why Spurs will probably be fine.

For comparison that Southampton team that finished bottom in 22/23 had 25 points. It wouldn’t surprise me if all the teams going down this season finish on less than 30 points.

I think you need to watch the first eighty minutes of the Tottenham match again.

We bring in 2 players in the window, get back Garner, Tim, Dwight and DCL, which relegates Doucoure to the subs bench, and then we can chat again.

AWFUL, AWFUL?

I think not.

I don’t think Spurs are tbh, and I don’t think we would be if we beat Leicester. Spurs will be fine when they get a couple of defenders back.

Without wanting to state the obvious: they are until they're not. If results go our way this weekend and we overtake them in the table, if we're still in the relegation discussion then they have to be to.

FYIW, I agree that there's pretty much no chance Spurs go down, but until they put points on the board and pull away there are no guarantees.

Can never be too confident with Everton, although it could be argued that a lack of relegation for 70+ years backs up a bit of confidence...but I feel like we are pretty much safe now we have those 2 back to back wins and with the bottom 3 having fallen further behind.

Obviously losing to Leicester would be a big blow but that only really means Leicester may be able to get out of trouble. Ipswich and Wolves are drowning.

I don't see 2 of those 3 sides having enough to get above us, especially with the ability Moyes has as a manager. If we get to 37, the other 3 aren't catching us and I fully expect us to get to 37, or even 40+.

Survival is clearly our main objective for this season now thanks to Dyche but there is no reason why we can't be hoping to get above a few more teams with how the table is now looking.

I see only Wolves having something about them and i think they will be ok.
I can see Leicester having a sniff of getting out of it also

Think someone as normally happens will go into freefall and get dragged into it. (Spurs maybe) but they wont go down.

We will be just fine not in the slightest bit worried now.

People have been saying this about Wolves all season but I don't understand why? They are awful.

Their 4-0 defeat to us sums that up. They may have had O'Neill, we had Dyche!

They have got a couple of decent players, i would fancy them to beat the teams below them and it will probably come down to that, the heads to heads with the relegation rivals.

Mate, they ALL do it, Moyes Mk I did it.......Dyche did it, even Pep does it, though he can go out and buy players to fit the system he wants.
Rudd v N got slated by Leicester fans for doing it
Ange did it and got beaten

They All do it!

find a system that makes the best of what you have,

no Sq pegs in round holes

The Cunha position is a big headache for them. At his best he is probably the stand out player amongst the bottom four or arguably the most important player for his team. If he leaves or is disillusioned then I think their prospects deteriorate quite significantly. It is quite puzzling the difference in the odds of going down between Wolves and Leicester.

He looks like a liability at the moment. His attitude stinks and he's obviously after a move. If I were Pereira I'd sell him and invest in a couple of players that can defend.

Probably their best chance to be fair, but he is a match winner.
