2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Can never be too confident with Everton, although it could be argued that a lack of relegation for 70+ years backs up a bit of confidence...but I feel like we are pretty much safe now we have those 2 back to back wins and with the bottom 3 having fallen further behind.

Obviously losing to Leicester would be a big blow but that only really means Leicester may be able to get out of trouble. Ipswich and Wolves are drowning.

I don't see 2 of those 3 sides having enough to get above us, especially with the ability Moyes has as a manager. If we get to 37, the other 3 aren't catching us and I fully expect us to get to 37, or even 40+.

Survival is clearly our main objective for this season now thanks to Dyche but there is no reason why we can't be hoping to get above a few more teams with how the table is now looking.
We’ve got Leicester, Ipswich,Saints,West Ham at home and Brentford, Palace and Wolves away.

12 points from those games and I think we are probably safe as can’t see LCFC getting 19 points from 15 games given their remaining fixtures.

Spurs fans are starting to worry a bit about relegation, and that’s with a much better squad than ours and with them being higher in the table than us

If they consider themselves in a precarious enough position to start worrying, then I don’t see why we shouldn’t still be wary
We deffo need to be wary. Aim for another 5 wins at least this season and we’ll be right. I can see why Spurs fans would worry. They seem to be in free fall.

It's about bias and perception: we tend to assume the worst for Everton based on what we see week in week out, but we don't watch other teams anywhere near as often to see that they might be just as bad (if not worse!) than us.

Also, they haven't won a league game since before Christmas whereas we've won 2 on the bounce and are only a point behind them. They're seemingly spiraling and we've solidified our position.

You're right though - we're in no position to be comfortable yet, and therefore neither should they be.

Sadly I’m saying this every season currently because we’re always in these relegation battles, but the two things that kill clubs like us in these situations are apathy and arrogance

If we let those Two A’s start creeping in before the job is done then we’re opening the door to potential jeopardy

If we can’t be arsed to get into survival mode, or we’re too cocky and think we’re out before we actually are, then we’re inviting danger

Let’s dig in now and fight until we’re out. No resting on the laurels until it’s over. As a fanbase we still have a big role to play in this

We should certainly aim to win as many games as we can, but realistically I think another 3 wins probably sees us safe, another 4 all but guarantees it.

Totally agree, and of course it's absolutely right to focus on ourselves as, ultimately, nobody is going to overtake us if we win games. But we're certainly not at panic stations which Leicester, Wolves and Ipswich will be soon if they don't win games and quick.

We've started winning games (and putting in performances to go with them), we need to maintain the momentum we've generated for ourselves as much as we can.

Yeah I think an aim of at least 5 would see us well clear but 4 and a couple of draws will do the job. Just can’t see 2 of the bottom 4 teams going on mega runs now.

The Leicester match is a 6 pointer. Winning means a little bit of comfort , but a defeat and Everton is totally back in the relegation struggle!

I'm a creature of logic... for us to drop into the bottom 3, 2x of the following scenarios must play out:

- Leicester have to win 2 more games than us (50% of their wins in 23 games) in their last 15 games to draw level on points with us (Our GD is massively superior).
- Wolves have to win 2 more games than us (50% of their wins in 23 games) in their last 15 games plus an extra draw to draw level on points with us (Our GD is massively superior).
- Ipswich have to win 2 more games than us (66% of their wins in 23 games) in their last 15 games plus an extra draw to draw level on points with us (Our GD is massively superior).

Possible? Absolutely. Likely? I'm not so sure.

3 more wins should do it for us as that would mean those below us need to there or thereabouts double their PPG for the remainder of the season just to catch us. 5 more wins would be great.
