2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Imagine if City get what they deserve, a huge points deduction that relegates them. What sort of goal return would he get in the championship?
They shouldn't be going to the Championship - they should be immediately excluded from the Premier League and forced to apply to re-join the football league at the bottom of the pyramid. That would represent fairness for the decade of cheating and obscene success they've experienced as a result of it, not the mention the tens of millions of pounds certain people have earned from it. Anything less would be an outrage.

That said, we know they're challenging for the Premier League title next season and this will all have been quickly brushed under the carpet. Maybe Everton will get a nice little points deduction again to take the focus off City.

Nah, Should be banned from the leagues forever. Send a message out that cheating isn't acceptable. All the fans and clubs that missed out on their 'days in the sun' won't get them back. Imagine being told that the RS had bribed the ref in one of their cup final wins over us and being awarded that trophy retrospectively. Would that change all those memories to happy ones? Would it give us the money in lost TV revunue and generate a woldwide fanbase? Kick 'em out forever!

Last roll of the dice for Ipswich. Signing the West Brom keeper to replace Muric.

Their best result of the season was with Simon Walton in goal.

Muric has been horrific - he was always going to be, not quite sure why they went for him. Shows that McKenna and the club are willing to act when there is an obvious problem.

Wolves also throwing the dice with a couple of randoms.

Think Wolves will be fine with what they have now Cunha is staying.

Think they'll comfortably reach 35-36 points with the games they have left.

Ipswich have still spend loads. As did Burnley last year. The issue is more wages top flight players earn now so promoted teams have to gamble more on up and coming players who lack prem experience.

It will be interesting what strategy Leeds and possibly Sunderland adapt if they come up as they both have 40k coming in and recent takeovers so more potential to have a go like Forest did if they can stay up the first season. Sunderland actually have a really exciting young first 11 for about 25 years so would be a more interesting promotion than a Burnley ,Sheffield United, WBA or Norwich to make up the numbers and not do much at all.
Talked alot about this if we go up . We need 7 or 8 players at Leeds just to compete. Our strikers Pirio too slow, Joseph young inexperienced. 2 strikers of PL quality is virtually going to be 100 million. We need better defenders a goalie and a couple of solid midfielders. All got to be done in 3 month time frame. The transfer window is way to short needs to go back to the old days.

Nightmare even for good owners now. Could spend £75m+ and get massacred most weeks, go down again, any decent players want to leave for peanuts as they all now believe they are PL standard. Have to spend more to build back out a strong EFL squad. Easy to then lurk mid table in the Championship for a few years.

Or can spend little, hope for the best, have a go, but go down and fans in uproar and want the owners out.

A few clubs have blatantly been happy to go straight back down with largely the same squad and pocket the parachute payments, which keep them secure for a few years. If the fans can understand that, fair enough.

Marco’s Fulham are one of very few that have come up and settled straight in quite comfortably.

Such a thin line between winning most weeks and promotion to the PL, then getting pumped every week with the “adventure” over by Xmas.

Can't believe you're still playing Meslier. One of the most overrated keepers around in last five years and still making basic errors so that needs to be first priority.

Watched Boro-Sunderland tonight and was impressed. Sunderland have basically a team full of talented young players like Isidor, Rigg, Jobe Bellingham and Le Fee who's a class above (got him on loan from Roma).

Boro can't defend but they've signed Kelechi Iheanacho and Morgan Whittaker so that should be good enough to get them in the play offs.

For next season I think a worse case scenario in terms of clubs who would be competitive would be Leeds, Sunderland and Boro through the play offs. Best case scenario is Sheffield United and Burnley and then a West Brom or Norwich in PO as all those have shown they're just not good enough at prem level with the squads they come up with.

Good result that tonight. Spurs yesterday was a pisser. But only a point in front of us with a worse goal average sp WHU are right with us.
Spurs goal difference is like an extra point for them, but United and the `ammers goal difference are very poor which makes the chances to finish above them all the more achievable. The only thing that will stop us doing so is a few injuries as we have very little back up.
