2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

I never understand this point.

That's how relegation works.

Not getting at you particularly mate - but you often here people say the only reason we stayed up is there were three worse teams then us - well yeah!
😂 Yeah, I know what you mean, and I agree really.

What I meant was that we can see clearly that there are three worse teams than us now, so we don’t need to worry as much as we did when we thought we might be as bad as them.

That is, Dyche had us playing as badly as them, but Moyes has got us playing better than them.

I won’t say it again 😂

Shame Man. United have 4-5 more points than they should as they'd be outsiders for relegation with what they're producing currently weekly.

Pretty confident of beating them at Goodison as they look clueless with this formation. Would be better just going back to 4-2-3-1 and having pace either side and Fernandes off the forward.

No matter how bad Man Utd seem to be, it seems that recently we still contrive to lose to them.

Under Dyche.

Got draws and the odd win against them under all of Ancelotti, FSW and Lampard.

Moyes had a good home record against them in recent seasons for West Ham so I'm very hopeful that will be another Goodison win to keep the momentum going as you can comfortably low block them and then score off a set piece.

I think the point is that there were particularly bad teams in those years. In other years we would have been 19th or even 20th given our performances and results over a season.

35-40 points is usually the benchmark for safety, but in some years it is far less than that and we have benefitted from such years.

But if my auntie had balls…etc.

Personally think we were the worst team to stay up ever in 22/23 mate.

If I’m being really honest, Leicester should have stayed up with the players they had.

We were very, very lucky. ;)

It really was an awful squad when you look back at it, whatever his crimes against football this season you still have to give Dyche a lot of credit for turning that lot around. Although a world class keeper sure helps.

Not to go down the rabbit hole, but I’ll always be grateful to Dyche for those 18 months.

Think you’re 100% right mate. A big difference between the two club were the keepers Leicesters keeper was awful.

If Kasper Schmeichel had stuck around for another year we could very easily have been a championship team.

In all fairness mate, youd have had to have gone back decades for a time we would have been 19th on our points totals.

That's just the new normal now.

I think that's very true. They didn't even try to replace him properly which was a crazy decision. You look year on year at the teams that end up going down and so often it's a dodgy keeper that separates them.

You know, it’s such an unacknowledged and big factor mate, Muric really let down Burnley last and Ipswich this season. Mesiler really dropped some changers for Leeds as well.

It’s no exaggeration to say Pickford really did keep us up, certainly a mission critical factor, he must have been worth what to us 8-10 points minimum.

We’re spoilt with him.
