2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

I think we're safe, but that in no way justifies letting January going by without being used ahead of next season.

The summer is going to require some very heavy lifting and we should have lightened that load in the window that just closed.
If we wait til summer then thats 24-25 in the bank for PSR with hardly any spending.
If Moyes thinks he can stay up with these players (plus Alcaraz) then thats fine. We've just won 3 games and maybe need to win 2 more to be safe, so I think it's fine. No need to hamstring himself on spemding for the next 3 years by spending millions on quick fixes.
Let's get to July amd spend then. Especially since so many players are leaving in the summer, that'll free up 100s of Ks of wages for a summer spend.

That can easily turn on its head mate.

Only it really can't, can it, as history shows, it's require two teams below to absolutely massively increase their points per game AND ours to literally fall off a cliff.

Ipswich are on track for 25 Leicester for 27 points this season. Wolves for 30.

Us for 43, pre Dyche leaving we were on track for 34. Now if we suddenly reverted to being as bad as we were under him we'd be tracking at 39 still.

But if you genuinely think that we could suddenly see two teams below start earning over the rest of the season 0.7 points per game back over us then yeah it's the same we'd have to earn to go past Villa btw - sound at all possible?

Even as pessimistic an Evertonian as i am its not easly turned on its head. Thats a 3 game consec loss and visa versa 3 game consec win for those below us.
But more importantly. No Dyche. we were sinking like the Titanic under him. We wouldnt have just got 9 points from 9 under him. We couldnt even muster a shot on target.
Thats why its not easly turned. Id never say never. But not easly.
No Dyche. Vibe around the team and club is chalk and cheese.

It would take not 1, but 2 of the teams below us equalling their number of wins for the entire season while simultaneously we lose every game in the same amount of time. So no it easily can’t, and would in fact be a freak if it happened.
It's not likely these teams start winning regularly, but it's still possible with plenty of games left. So we need to keep getting as many points as possible.

When something like this actually does happen to us we call it an "Everton that" moment.
Examples would be like:
2-0 in front on 85 minutes, 2-3 down at full time.
or
Getting a home draw in the FA cup in the quater finals v a Wigan team on the way to relegation, being 0-3 down at HT and then when the semi final draw is made you would avoid Man City and get lowly Millwall, and then looking a bit further forward Wigan catch soon to be league champions on an off day and win the cup.

Agree completely. We have 15 games left, 2 wins and 3 draws would see us comfortably safe on 35 points. For what its worth I think we'll finish closer to 40 points but even on a pessimistic projection were fine.
