2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

It'll be our last PL game at Goodison and Soton's last PL game so someone is going to be dissapointed... we all know how that goes....
If safe i wouldnt care ofc be great to end on a win, but the job be done for me and thats staying up. I had more expectations at the start of the season, just now get safe and get a plan for the summer who to bring jn

If RS go 9 points clear we would all say they are 100 % winning league

Same with us and staying up surely 9 points is even bigger down the bottom because nobody hardly wins
I think we ALL feel like we are staying up.

But while there is still a chance................

We were 1 point off the bottom 3 games ago, there is no reason why those teams below cant be 1 point off us in 3 games.

Thats football.

Absolutely. We are far from safe. Goodison is going to have be an absolute bearpit during these last few months of the season.

One injury to Branthwaite and a Michael Keane inspired hatchet job v the RS and there’d be some serious reassessment of confidence in here.

I’ve thought we’re better than the bottom 3 all season but not by much and not if our key players are missing for long periods. We’ve just lost our best striker and key midfielder and not replaced either. Whilst the defence stays fit I’m not too concerned but if Branthwaite and Garner ran into each other in training tomorrow, or Ndiaye pulled up, and Leicester won a game the world could start to look very different again.

2 wins and a draw from 15 games keeps us up. If we don’t get that from these last 15 then we deserve to be relegated.

What would happen if Liam Delap fell down the stairs and landed on Omari Hutchinson ruling them both out..
Or Mattheus cunha and Joao Gomes collided while out on their scooters and both broke their legs .
Or Jamie vardy and El khannous both got the plague .
All questions that keep me awake at night.
I’m sure I read once that simply putting your trousers on can cause serious injury or death. Nobody is safe

Do well for 2 teams to gain that many points. I can appreciate the fear, however, just a smidge over half a point per game sees us on 34 points. Bearing in mind two teams at the bottom have more than that per game average and we had or nearly 1 point per game to to halfway. That should give us confidence we'll be fine and probably be above 40 points comfortably in all honesty.

Teams will probably work us out a bit better the more data they have how we play now, so it will slow down as you'd expect. Still see us getting 4 more wins at least though.

I think we're safe, but that in no way justifies letting January going by without being used ahead of next season.

The summer is going to require some very heavy lifting and we should have lightened that load in the window that just closed.

JOB goes to play in the centre with Tarkowski and Patterson/Young in at right back.

Moyes is not a Keane lover like Dyche was.

If we're not still 9+ clear come April, I'll still be tetchy.

I think Wolves have signed 3 defenders, likely go to a back 3 again and I think will be better than the bottom 3.

Ipswich and Southampton don't matter.

So I think it's about Leicester. If they pull 2 results out their arses (they have Brentford and West Ham to play this month), then we'll be twitching.

So while I'm confident we'll stay up, and don't think we'll go down. I'm still not "we're definitely safe", because.... we aren't.
I’m certainly not going to declare us safe although 9 point is massive at that end of the table.

But what I would point to is the gulf in goal difference between us and the teams in the relegation zone, not so much as a tie breaker (although handy) but as an illustration of the fact we’re just fundamentally a much better team than they are.
