2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

If you believe we'd have still been on 17 points 6 games later with Dyche still in charge you need to give your head a wobble. We'd been averaging pretty much a point a game up until that point.
If you dont think theres any difference between 13th and 17th you need to stick your head in the washing machine.

Only on a low spin wash.

Perish the thought but if Dyche was still here now then I'd say 23/24 points would be a fair summary. So clear of bottom 3 but still looking over shoulders whenever Ipswich get something.

I'll be charitable and say he'd have ground out a win v dismal Leicester as he always did get results in those situations in previous years but it would've been far closer to 1-0 than 4-0.

No way would he have approached Spurs like Moyes did so draw at best imo. Probably same for today and Brighton.

Maybe Moyes is getting the luck in games that eluded Dyche given Sarr hit the bar at 0-0 today but then Moyes is actively making that luck by being positive generally and Dyche simply wasn't for most of 2024.

Too many snorefests at Goodison for first hour sealed his fate.

Still need ten points. You need 40 points to be almost sure.
For 40 points to be the number this year, Ipswich or Leicester would need to get 23 more points from the last 13 games. That's a points per game rate of over 1.7. They currently both average 0.7 points per game.

That's not impossible but it's definitely improbable. Even Moyes himself said its unlikely to be 40 points needed.

But there's absolutely no reason we shouldn't get over 40 points now ourselves.

So EVEN if Dyche and Moyes finished the season on the same points, which is impossible because if Moyes was our manager on day one we’d easily be top 10, isn’t watching this play so much more superior than playing tentative hold the line but never attack football? Watching Everton now is just awesome and exciting. Before it felt like thank the maker we nicked a point somehow while never ever pressing.

I had no expectations for the game today, the circumstances of the injuries & the draining game we had on Wednesday just made me think we didn’t have a chance, but the way they approached the game still trying to get on the front foot and win the game was the reason we came away with 3 points. I love what Moyes has done, it’s night and day from the crap Dyche served up.
