2024/25 Relegation Thread

Having seen most of the teams and the results this week, I think we will finish above Ipswich and Southampton and then it is a lottery from there on in.

We look genuinely one of the 3 worst teams this season.

I don`t back us to hit 48 points again this season which leaves us vulnerable. The arrogance shown by the Dyche apologists who claim that Dyche will deliver at least the points haul of last season is staggering.

I don`t think we get near that, the points deduction pushed us to good winning runs, without them we just float along with loss after loss.
Leceister should get a nice point penalty which should put them behind us

Just another sorry start to the season. Already we're hoping to keep things ticking over and stay ahead of the promoted teams. If by some miracle Dyche finds himself here next season you'd hope there's some introspection to do things better.

I feel this is going to be a deliciously interesting season for Everton. I don't believe we will be relegated, but I think we will do a fair bit of tap-dancing on the trapdoor. Exciting season ahead.

It's not on Sean Dyche but the last 4 or 5 years must be the longest period of consecutively barely surviving. Just about escaping relegation by a gee hair.

Like we used the shudder at the 90s. But surely we have surpassed that?

We can't score. We don't even create. We've no pace to counter attack. We spent the rest of our transfer budget on a back up defender. We have a ton of injuries. Our preseason was a complete joke and the team look underprepared. The manager is inflexible and one dimensional.

Of course we'll be in a relegation battle

Different to last year. Created bags of chances against average teams, had reasonable possession, couldn’t score despite having XG of 74.3, got beat at the death. All the talk was purely about converting chances to goals. Not much else, and we thought that would click into places. Maybe also conceding on the counter from our own corners.

The talk now is about creating chances, converting chances, conceding on the counter, cutting out stupid errors/passes that lead to easy goals, defending set-pieces, accuracy of hoof, Holgate actually having a squad number, Keane playing two games in a row, indestructible Tarks injured, mystery “bit longer” injury to JB, superstar number 9 hates everyone at the club and the fans.

But we are stronger.

Nah but the Prem is better this season IMO. Having that bottom 3 was an anomaly really.

We are begging for a relegation like Villa were a few years ago. There's a decent chance one of the promoted sides will be better than the other three were last season. If that's the case then we will be right in amongst it.

Thankful the three promoted team so far look woeful. As do Palace. Forrest have some points but have played two favourable fixtures.

Next week will be the key. Nothing but a win.
