2024/25 Relegation Thread

There was a good interview on 5Live yesterday with a journalist from Leicester who covers the football for the local paper.

He admitted that the club is expecting a points deduction for a financial breach so, I that happens, there's a weird bit of hope for us.
We need 3 other teams to receive points deductions…

For people thinking this is as low as it gets. Remember this is Everton we are talking about.

We could still get another deduction (Whatever it is - it was reported it could be 1point/2points or even nothing months ago for the hearing yet to take place. Plus no one knows what our accounts could be like till xmas etc, depending how that is that could be another

Well we know for sure leceister will get one and should be a big one too...city could be in trouble this season, but expecting their case to probably last many months...then there is chelsea...other than that no other team should have issues with psr

They reckon City should know in about Feb, whatever it is. i can't see it been big enough to relegate them for example, unless they got something like an 80point deduction  We also have to remember whatever any points deducions any club gets, that it's probably not the final answer as they will appeal etc

It’s simple the team isn’t a bottom 3 team, but it is with Dyche at the helm. It’s that simple. He will say otherwise to cover up his own inadequacy's, but the truth is this team capable of better without him.

Yesterday was a real sucker punch and all the while we haven't got points on the board I feel nervous. But trying to remain positive because after 87 minutes yesterday I thought we looked decent and that relegation would be a none issue. But then the next 9 minutes happened and now I'm worried again.

Obviously I have concerns about Dyche's game management and not knowing what his best team is and this could/has already contributed to us losing points. I know Keane wasn't completely to blame for yesterday's capitulation, but we have O'Brien now. Keane should be 4th choice and this should be obvious!

Garner is one of the cooler heads we have in the squad and one of our better players at keeping hold of the ball. He should have been the one to come on and probably in place of Tim who was tiring. And then Dixon or hell even Young should have replaced Coleman and we hold onto that game. Ndiaye and DCL shouldn't have come off at all as both are good at keeping the ball high up the pitch, instead they were replaced by Doucore and Beto who are probably our worst players for keeping hold of the ball and the team was just set up to invite pressure.

As much as the manager should take the blame not one player on the pitch stood up after that first goal went in no leadership from anyone
That's exactly it. I'd have sacked Dyche at the full-time whistle, but I'd have free-tansfered the entire squad after that abject, pitiful capitulation...except I know nobody would take them.

Make no mistake, fans of the promoted three asking the question "who can we finish above?" are all answering "Everton". I think we're deluding ourselves with our 'actual' points tally from last season. We're still a side with about 40 goals in us in a good season. Only Sheff Utd scored less than us last season and there's no side as bad as them in the league this season (jury is out on Soton I guess).

Couple all this with the rate we've been shipping goals, and the fact Coleman and Young are a year older and still seemingly depended upon, and it colours a grim picture. N'Diaye looks a positive at least. And there's always the deluded hope Calvert-Lewin can have one of his purple patch seasons.
