Back when i was a naive teenager, this promo vid and song got me hook line and sinker into the upcoming brand shiny new premier league, and I thought it was going to be amazing - if I only knew then what I know now…..

Mad that City will probably catch up our title haul next season and inevitably overtake it within the next 3 years comfortably. Quite sad really. 6 titles in a decade for them is a pretty wild state of affairs and says a lot about the state of football.

Spent a couple of hours watching the Big Match reruns this afternoon (Man U 3 Spurs 0, Sunderland 3 Everton 1, Southampton 2 Liverpool 3 and Man City 1 Ipswich 1). Every time I watch it I feel sad for football

The facts are right there in front of us. The rs are also premier league also rans, and they've been better financially resourced than us over the last thirty years as well.

Here is our shirt from that debut premier league season.

Outside of Peter Beardsley and Neville Southall that Everton team was pretty mediocre, but the shirt was class imo.

Just going back to this again, i rate that shirt as Evertons third nicest shirt after the 1984/1985 and 1986/1987 shirts.

I think it was very much a case of boss shirt, but mediocre team in both 1991/1992 and 1992/1993 sadly! Although in hindsight Howard did well, to keep us in mid table in both of those seasons.

We nearly went down in 1993/1994 of course after he resigned that December.
