4 players from our history to transform the team?

Mountfield. Great defender and a huge goal threat.
Reid. A proper 6 in todays game.
Ball. Had the lot (so I'm told by those that know these things)
Kanchelskis. Unplayable for a season.

Unlucky to miss out.

Lukaku. Despite his occasional Sunday League touch, an unbelievable centre forward. We definitely had the peak of his career. Really close between him and Yakubu, pre injury he was incredible.
Baines. Really unlucky to play at the same time as Ashley Cole.
Southall. The best there's been, but Pickford is more than decent.

So with those 4 picks in the current team.

Mountfield replaces Keane.
Reid replaces Gana
Ball replaces Onana or Doucoure
Kanchelskis replaces whoever is wide right, currently Iwobi.

Reid sitting deep with Ball and one of Onana, Iwobi or Doucoure would compete well with any midfield three out there.

Which players would you take from our history that would transform this team?
I'm considering the fact that not many signings since 2016 have really made the kind of impact that has made a big difference and if you could get someone on a 3 year deal today, in their prime, who would it be?

(I'm only going as far back as I know to 1985 but you could argue for any players you know of!)

I have probably forgotten loads of important players, but I was thinking of these players recently who might give us the right kind of shot of adrenaline and match Sean Dyche too- I'm looking for an old fashioned balanced 4-4-2 style team with excellent full backs. It's a sort of 'realistic fantasy' team

1-Leighton Baines - with his 5-10 assists and when he was in his driving forward mode
2-Gary Stevens
3-Trevor Steven
Both of these for an unstoppable right side, knocking in assists for
4-Rooney (the Man Utd version)

Just missed the cut
Neville Southall - I'm satisfied with Pickford but , you know - he's a rare match-winning goalkeeper, but then I needed a creative attacker instead
Mikel Arteta (as captain) - neat passing and leadership to drive us forward
Cahill - our midfielders are not like him and Cahill would at least make forward runs to score a few and get us going
Romelu Lukaku - we seem to have had him in his prime!

My team would be (assuming everyone fit)
Pickford
Stevens-Tarkowski-Mina-Baines
Steven-Gana-Onana-McNeil
DCL-Rooney

Trying to rekindle my thread to adapt with the times now that we need saviours
And I'm feeling really stressed out and low about the next 4 games. Trying to feel better.Which 4 players would save us from relegation? I think we need 2 substitutes as well. ...

Actually, which entirely different team would save us from relegation lol

Southall
Coleman-Ratcliffe-Mountfield-Baines

Reid
Harvey-Kendall-Ball

Rooney-
Dixie Dean

Subs
Pickford
Stevens
Steven
Sheedy
Cahill
Kanchelskis
Lukaku
Lineker

Dixie Dean 60  goals in a season speaks for itself, Alan Ball our greatest ever midfielder, drive, skill and scored lots of  goals, Neville Southall possibly the greatest goalkeeper of all time stopped  goals going in. Andrei Kanchelskis, pace and  goals galore for a winger.

I'll go for 'fairly' recent players who I think could play in the premier league (guys from 40+ years ago...who knows?) and who slot into our team.

Pickford
Patterson Tarkowski Branthwaite Baines
Garner Onana
Kanchelskis Rooney McNeil
Lukaku

Leighton Baines --he would transform the left hand side given the general state of Mykolenko.
Alan Ball - rolls royce in centre mid and strong character.
Trevor Steven - Ideal down the right under Dyche. He and McNeil crossing for DCL and Latchford with Ball controlling the midfield.
Bob Latchford - quality old fashioned type of centre forward that would excel under Dyche.

If I had to go for just one to throw in amongst this lot it would be Peter Reid.

You cannot beat a midfield general like he was. Attitudes would change instantly and dramatically.

in a sean dyche team, I would say, Andy Gray and Graeme Sharp so we can play 442, we need to be better in central defence so would go for Kevin Ratcliffe and Dave Watson

Great question.
PL era.

Kanchelskis. Obvious reason
Baines. Best left back by a country mile
Lukaku.
Gona go pienaar. Great little grafter and gets the nod over cahill because of his link up with baines.
