I think I will go for shoring up positions instead of random names.

Ratcliffe for the centre of defence. See ya Keane. Severely lacking pace at the back.
Baines. The service he could give to dcl would be immense.
Kanchelskis. Don't think we need an explanation. Tara for now Iwobi. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Beardsley. Every day and twice on a sunday.

Honorable mention to Carsley or Barry for the midfield. If we wanted to make it 5 players.

No entirely different team could save us from relegation now. We are doomed, but a lot of these suggested sides would, I am sure, really grace the Championship, and might even get us back up at the first attempt.

Incidentally, why is Peter Reid largely absent from these lists? If any player who was on the same pitch as him was giving less than 100%, he would come charging and have words with them. If we currently had a midfield general like him, we wouldn't be in such a mess.

This is literally the first time I’ve opened the thread so this is the first XI I’ve seen and I’m sorry because I’m not picking on you but… this is such a bizarre choice. It basically solves none of our major issues at all. Southall was amazing but swapping out pretty much our only good player seems a waste. Reid was similar to gueye, gray to DCL, and harper just a utility player. Feel like there’s so many areas we’re lacking any sort of quality at all and your choice would be to take out the decent players we do have and replace them with (arguably) better ones.

My reasoning is the top three would bollock the under achieving wasters.
And Harper ,I believe, could fill in any other positions.
Just my opinion.
Obviously the Latchfords ,Kings,Balls,Harvey et al,would improve any team.

Less sure about the last choice. Left Southall out as Pickford is basically our only consistently good player so bigger issues to address. Also assuming every one is fit DCL would do fine in the team even though Lukaku is clearly way better. Maybe take Pienaar over Arteta and play Rooney number 10 but Rooney did very well coming off the left for United.
