6 + 2 Point Deductions

With a fully fit team and bt paper thin squad. And these teams around us now will have a right 'kin go and one at least will start picking up the points and the pressure will be on our players who are not great under pressure...as we know.

Its great that people believe we have this hand. I wish I was one of them. But I see this for what it is: the door has been fully opened to relegation, which is what those corrupt gets in the PL wanted.
I might be one of the few, but I don't believe you're wumming on this, and I get it's easy to feel desperately down with all the muck flung at us of late, but we've got to pick ourselves up and go again as they say. We will beat them Dave.

We are in the mix . But there is no way we will need to reach 39 points to stay up.
I'm not sure we will either, I think another 32-33 from here gets us safe for sure without any issues. But that doesn't change the fact that why we're all so gutted and up in arms is that this has put us right back in a relegation mire when we finally thought we were done.

We have an attack, and depth up there. Last season we scored 34 goals. The season before we conceded 66. That's why we placed as poorly as we did. We're on pace for scoring in the 40s and conceding in the low 50s, which generally puts a team in the mid to high forties for points when all is said and done.

With as bad as the bottom of the table is, that should be enough. Reinforcing the back, if at all possible, would be wise in January. It's the one area of the pitch where a lone injury can derail us.
One player gets injured, ONE, and we are down. For sure.

I don't get the relaxed attitude here.

A bit of realism is required. We are absolutely stomping up and down on the trapdoor now. Then we expect players who aren;t great mentality wise to get up off the canvas to fight back and save themselves from relegation.

We are NOT a club that can carry the weight of a 10 point deduction. I'd have said so with a 6 point deduction too...the added 4 points utterly seals it.

...yes, and there's 3 teams yet to get their seasons started while we just had our purple patch and we have players who's morale will be shot.

The believe that "this is a good time to get a points deduction" is a line fed by the media to shut us up.

Its a disaster...an utter disaster.
So those 3 teams are going to suddenly click and pick up 38 points? What are you basing that on exactly?

You’ve also discounted some of the teams above crashing e.g. Forest?

I think you, like me, are a natural pessimist after decades of Everton following. You are hoping, like I often do, that posting the worst case scenario will somehow jinx it and the opposite will happen.

I have no idea how anyone can even use a laughing emoji on a day like today...the day that the PL buried us.
Stop been so down and looking for the very worst, we are a team on the up, its not like we are not winning any game - (be different if we were struggling to win a game), we have a great chance still. do you think all the teams around us are going to go on some mad winning run when they have hardly got any points

If you read the report it isn't that simple. The club has been found guilty of breaching P&S, of breaching accounting rules, failing to act in utmost good faith to fellow clubs and misleading the Premier League regarding Stadium funding.

A comparison was made to EFL rules where breaches of accounting rules lead to a 12-point penalty that is reduced by mitigating factors.
The report states that the commission did not take this into account, mate.

Trust me, I've spent far too long going throw this with some legal folk today.

Doesn't the report state a six point penalty plus one point for every 5m over spend is the FL formula?

Based on my maths...

A 20m over spend is four points plus six is ten. Which we got.

As for the case itself, the PL were out to get us - anyone who expected different was being naive.

The 10-point deduction is in no way relative to the crime, but that's on the club to fight. The fans now just have to fully back the team and as one we can get out of this.

But essentially this has shoved us right back into being right in a scrap until the very end.
Breaching accounting rules in the EFL starts with a 12 point deduction reduced by mitigating factors so 10 points is relative to the crime.

I don't think its overly pessimistic to believe one team below us or just above us goes on a run that places us under massive pressure to get 34 points to stay up.

If you think that's out of the question just based on the opening 12 games then good luck to you.
