6 + 2 Point Deductions

Worse case scenario and everton get sued for 3 hundred million what happens to the women's team, what happens to everton in the community and all the charities they help. So many people will suffer. People may actually die because of the corrupt biased premiership

And if that could be engineered, I'd love to see it. However, to be able to do it, 86 clubs need to say to the "Big 6", we have had enough and we are going to take our chances of playing elsewhere. And we know they won't because of the risk in doing so.
There is a risk but the so cold big 6 are a relatively new thing Spurs Chelsea Man City they can all be replaced just like we have been by them clubs. Spurs even have a cheek to claim they are part of the so called big 6. Who was the big clubs when the premier league started in 92 Liverpool Arsenal Everton Manchester United. I hate to say it but it’s losing Manchester United and liverpool that’s the real risk.

Their priorities writ large.

OK... so let's introduce a cap on transfer spending. You can't do it on wages as it would be unlawful. So essentially wages would go up significantly to entice players.

I agree that certain clubs aren't going to agree.

Salary caps may be unlawful to the league rules at the moment but they're certainly not outside of that. If a company has a budget to work to then they cannot spend anymore than is budgeted, it would simply require all clubs to agree which won't happen (this is where a government regulator could step in). Issues of a cap only occurs because of an existing system being in place, you couldn't suddenly reduce wages for existing players contracts as that would be illegal but over time you can bring it down to a level where all clubs end up having the same maximum wage budget.

The Premier League would never agree to that because it would cause talent to look elsewhere, but if all they care about are controls to keep clubs healthy as well as having a competitive league then why should they care as long as it's doing its job.

Think these articles explain things better than I can or have time to :

This article just pushes the argument that no-one can (or should) compete with those at the top, "it's impossible because Utd and Liverpool earn so much more so it's unfair to cap them to lower levels of spending". Why? You don't have to budget to the lowest revenue earning club either, you set a budget that is achievable by most clubs but they're not forced into hitting that highest limit, it still gives an advantage to those who do earn the most and has the added benefit of stopping the ever increasing prices being paid for players and their wages. It will also mean those at the top actually get to pay out more of it's profits to the owners / shareholders (or better yet, invest it in the surrounding areas that helped them exist in the first place).

The biggest argument against it is that it could result in a less competitive overall league compared to Europe if they don't also introduce similar rules, but that seems like a risk worth taking to create a healthier system for everyone in the domestic leagues (certainly compared to the existing system of allowing a few to continue using their huge revenue sources to muscle away from the rest).

The worst case scenario is getting sued for 1 hundred million. Only one team could even be argued to have suffered relegation at our hands.

But yeah you are spot on about the rest: the whole reason the PL are doing this is meant to show they can govern themselves and don't need a regulator to protect fans and communities from having their clubs go to the wall. If our punishment (which is already points AND effectively a fine given the cost of place money and / or relegation) spirals even further into massive compensation awards it could SEND us to the wall which is the exact outcome they are meant to be showing they can avoid!

Even if it's out of pure political self-interest it's all the more reason for the PL to nip the compensation claims in the bud because things could spiral out of control. Destroying a member club would be massively disproportionate and would strengthen the case to have powers taken off them by a regulator.
