6 + 2 Point Deductions

Given how this panel treated a war as an entirely predictable business occurrence I am not sure they will be persuaded by logic.

“Everton insiders have questioned how more than one club could receive compensation, considering that at the most only one team would have been relegated instead of Everton.”

We should sue every Championship team and the PL and EFL. If we’d have had our 10 points deducted in 2021 as this lot wants( even though the assessment period hadn’t finished so impossible), we’d have been relegated. So we are actually owed 1 years parachute payment, salary reductions on all players with relegation clauses and a replica of the Championship trophy following an unbeaten season. All 364 matches they play down there.

What a load of nonsense.

Think it might relate to final league placings also. For example, Leeds would've finished 16th (not 17th) in 2021/22 and got more prize money. And, 18th instead of 19th last season.

Burnley would've finished 17th in 2021/22 and not been relegated (Everton would've been). But, we didn't finally transgress until the last day of the accounting period on 30/6/22 (when we didn't get enough for Richarlison). The season was already over by then, so the case could never have been heard in that season and it was impossible to rule that there was a points deduction for that season. Not sure how Burnley's case would stand up.
Forest and Southampton ultimately weren't impacted.
So, that leaves Leicester. Had it been heard, after the charges were actually made during the 2022/23 season, and re-heard after Everton's inevitable appeal they might have had a case. Not sure it could have been done that quickly as we were only charged in March 2023. It's not Everton's fault on the timing of the charge made by the Premier League.

Suspect any formal challenge of the punishment will be thrown out, don't the guidelines explain exactly why it's 10 points deducted or am I reading this wrong? 6 points for the breach then a point for every £5m over the threshold (you could argue it should be 9 points if splitting hairs over the £0.5m)

The scale of punishment was imposed after the charge was brought so when the breach was actually committed there was no scale so rather than use this they have calculated their own and come up with the same punishment. Just a coincidence? I doubt that. I have no doubt the commission were well briefed prior to the hearing.

Those banners the 1878s have had made are a bit crap tbh. Completely miss the point that this whole thing is about the PL wanting to preserve a status quo and punish clubs who dare to try and break it.

The whole "dogs of war" and "we are Everton" vibe, yeah that will definitely show 'em.

Every banner should have been about the PL...100 percent

I think it is a two fold approach though. We need to make our case strongly to the league but also create a unity that will help us win football matches.

They were never going to create banners and messaging that everyone would like but I think they've done pretty well.

to be fair, seems like more of a 'unifying the fans through a siege mentality'. No harm with that. And absolutely noting to be gained by alienating fans of specific other clubs on the national stage. We need all the support we can get.

Surely that 'and' in the first paragraph should be 'or'. We can't have been deducted points in both seasons...
