6 + 2 Point Deductions

As a leeds fan, I think I have 4 takes on this.

1 - The 10 pts mean very little this year. There are 3 terrible teams in the league, you'll stay up with 30 points probably. Can't see the penalty resulting in relegation.

2 - You broke FFP. You did so knowingly and then tried to cover it up with dodgy accounting. The penalty is fair enough - You got caught and lied about it. Suck it up.

3 - Your big problem isnt the 10 pts, its Burnley and Leicester. Leeds, Southampton etc.....have very small claims, which amount to a couple of million for being 'cheated' out of a place in the league, but neither resulted in a substantial impact. Burnley and Leicester however..........You could easily be looking at a couple of hundred million compensation and all the fun and games that come with that.

4 - This is for the 21-22 season. Your still not compliant with FFP today, so need to fix that pronto or you'll be proper hammered. As a result, there is an urgent need to sell players and reduce the wage bill - and forget about strengthening. I think this (and the 3rd point) are your main issues. The 10 pts won't mean a whole lot and is short term - a big compensation bill and a wage bill that is hugely out of kilter with your revenue are longer term problems that could bury you for a good long time.

Hi Jim.
Thanks for this.
You have four takes or you think you have?

Which one is it?

Getting pretty obvious it's a way of going after us for being owned by Usmanov. Just because they couldn't pin us to the wall like they did to Chelsea and Abramovich they're doing it via another route.

By even entertaining claims they are making a rod for their own backs (how many claims coming for Chelsea and City?) so to go down this hole they must want us to suffer OR make them suffer by setting the bar so high... I can't see how we can be sued with something that the PL decided when and where we would be found guilty or not. Did they offer us to take the penalty in that season? The rules say you cannot go over this amount in a 3 year period, it doesn't specifically say you will be punished in that season.

😂 And I raise you Peter Risdale…
You'll get no arguments from me on that score. We were run terribly for years and nearly put out of existence because of it. We had two point deductions too - the second one was 15 pts. Starting a season in league 1 on -15 was a great laugh.

And since when did GOT become so toxic? A reasonable post about the real threat being the longer term risks of litigation from Burnley and Leicester doesn't seem to warrant mass abuse. Used to be a fairly reasonable place (by footie forum standards at least, which aren't all that high really) and now a pretty mild post seems to get koppite levels of delusion in response. Sad.

I'd very much like to make love to you Jim

Annnd we still won't ever see what the championship looks like.

Funny.

That post from an alleged Leeds fan made me smile! Reminded me of the time Don Revie was sending wads of cash in brown envelopes across the Pennines to Alan Ball to get him to sign for Leeds.

We know how that turned out!

Without doubt they must be the club with the longest history of corruption in top level football.

Hi Jim.
What's it like playing in the championship again?
Do they do good pies at Rotheram?
Would you rate Jonathan Woodgate and Lee bowyer highly.?
Did you ever bash an Asian on a night out .?

It was a pretty ill informed/irrelevant post tbh. We are all aware of the situation and have studied it more than yourself.

Re the wage bill a Quick Look at the contracts ending in June and you can see the is addressed naturally. The likes of Gomes and Ali don’t even need to be replaced. If we are in the EPL next season our wage bill will be comfortably bottom half.

Re the compensation claims I don’t think they will be significant. They know it will be opening Pandora’s box and very difficult to prove

Exactly mate.

As you can imagine we’ve been a bit beset by trolls so other teams fans are being treated with a bit of suspicion.

At least you’re right about your team only having a possible small claim. Some of the mental gymnastics I’ve seen from some of yours about how you could’ve got from 19th to 17th have been….interesting.

As an Everton fan, I think I have 1 take on this.

1 - K'off.
