6 + 2 Point Deductions

Given the general view that the punishment was too severe, not just inside Everton, but across football in general. Is it feasible that there is some behind the scenes discussion between Everton and the PL to come to a compromise in the run up to the appeal? For example the PL suggest alternative punishment which maybe available and sound Everton out

Again, is that guaranteed or just rumour : scare mongering?

Deffo not guaranteed. By a billion miles. IIRC, the commission said we may have gained a sporting advantage, but we didnt seek one. Ambiguous is their name. Clever lawyers can work that how they see fit. Plus, where would that end? It would be a can of worms the PL would be nuts to open.

I think confidence is the wrong word. Its more the pretty much overwhelming reaction to the punishment from outside of Everton. And the horlicks of the verdict/dismissing mitigation that folk who know these things think is ridiculous.

Andy Burnham's thoughts will be very interesting tomorrow. He has spent his life ploughing through documents most of us fall asleep reading.
Any chance for us foreigners a bit of insight as to who he is/when and how he is meant to be giving his thoughts?

Did they not commit to a hearing in December?

If not, they should do.
some things said yesterday they have to have all the appeal stuff in by, while others said this week by friday. Then its how long it takes probably to get the appeal 3 set up who decide etc, i dont think we may hear anything till march

Any chance for us foreigners a bit of insight as to who he is/when and how he is meant to be giving his thoughts?

He was a front bench Labour MP. He is a STH at Goodison. He is currently Mayor of Manchester Region, and has been vaguely critical of the decision. In a politicians way. Now he has digested the frankly bamboozling (to most) verdict, he will pronounce his opinion tomorrow.

We know that can very very very easily happen. And Luton have picked up some form of late...and I definitely don't expect Burnley to keep on being beaten.

At LEAST one of the three promoted clubs will get their act together...and then we're fighting for dear life to get clear.

On current form they don't. But we're 12 games in and even Luton have shown in the last 3 games they have the ability to defend and fight.

They beat us at GP.

I know Luton fight their way up to the PL. Is the last 12 games of theirs representative or not? Don't know. But they've been handed a real boost here.

They beat Everton at Goodison, drew with Liverpool, drew at Forest (no mean feat), lost by 1-0 to both Sours and United.

They have to be taken seriously...as do the other promoted clubs as they've just been trying to find their feet in the first handfuls of games. If one of them gets the bit between their teeth we'll need a 48 point season to maybe hold them off.

"...but Dave, how can you say Luton will get out of this. They're terrible. They won't get 30 points. Guaranteed...."
