6 + 2 Point Deductions

Right Matt Stanbury, you say it is being reported.... Who is reporting it?

Various clubs. As you are privvy to this reporting, which clubs? As you go on to say clubs that have been relegated. Would that include Burnley as they were relegated and since been promoted? And as you know, it is not permitted for premier league clubs to sue each other.

And if we are not permitted to do so i.e compensate these un-named clubs, why would we do so?

koff

So sky prices to go up by at least 4% in the not too distant future...disappointing deal that as I am sure they were expecting better. For us it underlines the necessity to continue be a premier league club for the foreseeable.
I can't understand why the PL aren't going their own way with their own TV service.

From my scribbled sums there, they'd only need 5 million paying subscribers at £30/month to top what Sky / TNT / the BBC are giving them.

That would also represent a substantial discount for consumers, too. I make it the undercounted rate for both Sky Sports via Now TV and TNT is £65 / month.

They could also keep highlights on the BBC and receive ~£60 million per season on top of that.

And all of that is without then extending access to the service to whatever countries they wished as global distribution rights deals end.

The more I think about the more it's just going to be reduced to -6 and the usual gobshyts (Souness, Keane etc) will say we should be 'grateful' for their leniency.

The PL changed the rules about the stadium midway through proceedings. We should not be docked a single point, but if the PL is as much of a Qatari / Saudi PIF dictator puppet as we rightly suspect they are, then -6 is (though extremely unjust) something of a result.

Whole thing stinks. If relegation didn't endanger our entire existence and/or our occupation of the stadium, I'd not care a jot about going to the Champ for a squad reboot.

Sure we've been in the top flight for 70 years. But we've been irrelevant and 'off brand' for about half that time.

I originally thought it would be reduced to 6 but I think it will now be more

It does irk me that we never do stuff like his. Hopefully the lovey dovey nice and friendly culture at the club disappears with the former chairman and owner, we’re an absolute pushover.

Everton did do this for years, that's why hardly anything was said had about our ownership for decades under William Kenwright, had the Daily Post and Echo in his back pocket for ages. Also kept shareholders and fans under control when banning AGM's twice. But agree about the Daily Mail and it's atrocious stories about Everton courtesy of Matt Hughes intrepid reporting.

There's a clear reason to restore all 10 - the stadium thing. But this is the PL. They clearly want us out of the league for not being sexy/marketable/whatever enough, and hang the socio-economic consequences. Why would they care in their London bubble ivory [Poor language removed] tower?

I don't think they will have expected the negative reaction from outside the club. I didn't at all. I think the political pressure might sway it

Giving us points again in the same reason is nuts too really, especially for the teams around us. Doing stuff like this mid seasons affects do many teams. So much uncertainty

Ironically this fiasco will gain us some fans
