6 + 2 Point Deductions

I think we can all agree that Everton were trying to gain a sporting advantage by signing players, that's pretty much the point.
Everton was trying to fulfil its function as a football club by signing players. If sporting advantage was the goal selling its better players would not have happened. The point is there was no sporting advantage, therefore no evidence of such, therefore no right to compensation for other clubs and therefore no justification for a sporting penalty

Looks relevant to me

Trying to gain a sporting advantage would be to buy more players than your rivals and better players than your rivals without any regard to financial contraints
Selling our better players with regard to financial constraints kicks that to touch
The depth of our squad also

So you are wrong. Buying lesser players to field a team to fulfil its function as a football club is not the same as 'trying to gain a sporting advantage'

I'm not sure what you think advantage means...

The selling of the better players happened after we had completely failed in our bid to gain the sporting advantage. Otherwise, we would never have signed those 'better' players in the first place. The fact that we didn't gain any sporting advantage is due to rank bad management and poor decisions making.

Everyone is right. Everyone except for the PL, because whatever the original aim, we didn't do it, so no sporting advantage was gained. In fact, the very existence of the PL PSR meant that we had to curb our ambition and retreat backwards.

In the context of the previous post suggesting that the commission had said that Everton had tried to gain a sporting advantage but had failed to do so, my point in the sentence you quote is that the majority of things that a football club does are with the intent of gaining a sporting advantage. To me, that would seem to be the point of all sport.

Maybe the commission should have stuck unfair in front of it and made it clearer, then everyone would be arguing against the same thing.
Your making the arguments for them mate, when they’ve made a total pigs ear of doing that themselves. The whole concept of P&S is for the sly6 and no one else.

It’s a complete sham and stitch up - yes, we had idiots running the show, but any points deduction is unjustified.

United are billions in debt for an unfair sporting advantage - bent PL say no problem, carry on lads.

Chelsea can write off £4 billion, get a new owner and spend another £2 billion on 80 players - clear sporting advantage - PL say no worries there lads, crack on.

City create dodgy sponsorships or interesting ways to pay their staff to cover overspending on P&S/FFP, on multiple occasions - obvious sporting advantage - the corrupt PL say not a problem, let’s review your case in 2029 or whatever. We’ve got little old Everton to screw over first anyway!

Were building a new ground to try and perform better financially and off the pitch, which in turn will hopefully “infer” an improvement sportingly on the pitch, but they have pulled the rug right in the middle of the build and whilst the government had sanctioned our biggest financial backer but this wasn’t deemed “mitigating”enough to affect our P&S?!

After everything, they can only “infer” a sporting advantage, from the cock eyed, rushed, downright fraudulent process and panel that they steam-rolled us into.

This was after we had co-operated and were having our transfers signed off and operating a salary cap - clearly a sporting disadvantage, as no other club was under such measures. Laughable and corrupt.

In effect, we’ve already been punished.

Thank god for the Andy Burnhams or the world of we would have just accepted our fate without any sort of fight.

That's not taking into account that over the last 5 years we are in the bottom 3 of the PL for nett spend so that means to me we've sold more than we've bought.

I'm genuinely not Nath, I'm not even talking about the commission at this point. I just corrected a poster who had got the wrong impression, that's all. I know my argument against it.
