6 + 2 Point Deductions

Yes, but it's restraint and cements an elite already established.

If we lived in a world where there was a salary cap and some form of restrained transfer market that could even out the disproportionate power in the PL then FFP might make sense. As it is its just a giant barrier to clubs like Everton. FFP was designed to beat down on our club. That's what's happened. Job done...but they'll regret this big time.
Well no, FFP wasnt designed to beat down our club, thats just honestly crazy talk.

So is your plan to wait two years for the PL not to punish Chelsea and City and then great really cross about it?

Be great that, if we get relegated

I said I think it's harsh. That's just an opinion til proven.

The one slither of hope is that the Premierleague and those on the panel will have seen the shock at the original sanction and the (pretty much)universal disagreement with it. You have Andy Burnham taking the Premierleague to task publicly, massive irregularities with their process being made public and they’ll know whatever decision they make will need to be squeaky clean to avoid any more scrutiny. I think the Premierleague expected a little backlash from us but they didn’t expect the level of bite bsck theyve had from all corners

Outside Merseyside it's a footnote. Burnham is playing the pr game
its entitrely normal practice... there are only so many chambers that can do the work, especially at this level. Happens on a daily basis in most courts. Nothing to worry about they are always entirely proffesional.
Of course it is. No conspiracy just a very harsh punishment

He’ll explode all over the gaff well before the two years just getting so exited at the thought of City getting hit and hammered with a comparable punishment for their multitude of breaches, just as we have.

Given the PL is run by a bunch of snakes, that's a very apt typo.

I don't believe we deserved any punishment because I can see FFP for the con it is: a trap for other clubs outside the cartel to fall into.

Everton spent their own money. So what it was £19M over the completely arbitrary figure they pulled out of their arse?

We are innocent.
We aren’t innocent though. We have admitted we broke the rules. Rules that we signed up to abide by. It may be an arbitrary figure, but it’s a figure we agreed to.

The issue isn’t about our guilt or innocence. That’s concluded. And we are guilty.

The issue is the extent of punishment.
And the fact that all the mitigating factors were basically ignored.
The fact that there was no punishment laid out in the rules so they could be as harsh as they want.
The fact that it’s not really independent as the panel chair is paid by the PL as are the panel members.
The fact that they have given us a harsher punishment than going into administration.
The fact that they briefed the media about the punishment they wanted.
The fact that the panel haven’t explained how they got to 10 points.
The fact that we have been given a sporting punishment rather than a financial one because our “owner is wealthy” when there is plenty of precedence already set for fining owners/clubs.
And then the fact that we are being censored by companies in cahoots with the PL such as Sky.

I know. But the point is made that this lot are going to have to do something outrageous to avoid the consequences of their own actions toward Everton.

They're a mess. We;'ve made them look what they are: a completely clueless set of chancers who have simply panicked over external oversight and thrown us under the bus.

We'll be here long after the PL has been dismantled and another organisation takes over the top flight.

Masters is 'kin toast. He knows it. Sheepshanks would never have let this happen. He was an odious corporate toad but he was a poltiiicain who'd avoided all this.
Love it. I'm definitely stealing this one.

I completely understand your reasoning - but where you frame it as hopeful that the PL might’ve seen the reaction and wish to cool down the sanction in response to it, there is another potential reaction.

The league really don’t want to blast Chelsea or City out of the league. That would damage their product. But equally, they are presently wanting to act tough to see off independent regulation.

So I can absolutely see a scenario where the league punish Everton harshly, citing that the process was set (though it clearly wasn’t) - but they agree it was too harsh and as such the process will be adjusted for future infractions.

Basically a turbo version of Niasse getting a red card for diving because he played for Example FC - but the PL walking back the policy afterwards.

15 mins on the Independent regulator.
Then after that, 10 mins on Everton and the harshest punishment ever given out.

Shows where their priorities are.
I don't think it particularly matters the order or the time allocated to each. Both issues are intertwined.

If Masters was stood up claiming they don't need independent regulation and then they moved onto Everton, it makes him loom as competent as a Sunak cabinet minister.

I would have no sympathy for us, personally.

Once is careless, twice is stupid.
You misunderstand me.
In three years time, yes, of course you'd be correct.

But me thinks you don't understand the meaning of 'double-jeopardy'.

If weve been found guilty of breaching something, it shouldn't be possible to be charged again for the same thing. (Ah... but we're dealing with the Premier League)

You can only get one speeding ticket for one offence. You cam only be relegated once, however many divisions. Therefore, with a verdict having been reached, to me the 'clock' should now be reset and those years disregarded.

I hope it's not you defending our position at the appeal!
