6 + 2 Point Deductions

We didn't see spending that could have smashed us through the glass ceiling. Not Abramovic or Mansour rich.

I think you should google search their net worths.

We also didn't see the revenues that come with success, because there wasn't any.

The dubious commercial revenues were on their way until Ukraine, however.

Ilm not sure what your argument is now re FFP.

Do you or don't you believe that its designed to stop a club getting a big investor and being able to use their wealth to threaten the cartel?

I don't, no. Newcastle as the most recent real world example.

Newcastle has been able to spend in the short term by virtue of the fact their previous spending under Ashley was so low. They had that capacity to exploit. But that's time limited.

If you're saying that our incompetence has hindered our ability to spend, I agree.

I don't pretend to follow or care about Newcastle's finances, but they are playing under the same rules as everyone else (or supposedly).

Assuming they've followed the rules, they've taken their 105 million 3 year buffer and made the Champions League, which begets more revenue and spending.

Yes, but they need earnings now to compete...or more dodgy sponsorship cash with a PL now under the microscope for such leniency.

You're going round in circles davek.

If your contention is they used their window to their advantage and built a squad that is capable of generating more revenue, then certainly the opposite is true of us: we blew our window spending big on mid-table players and mid-table managers and missed our opportunity.

If someone rich comes in and takes us over, they'll recapitalize the balance sheet, interest expense will be gone and revenues will be going where they should be-the football operations. The stadium opens, we should gather more revenue from that without that hitting our P&S calculation.

That's the reset we need, and we won't get from 777.

Incompetence is why we are where we find ourselves. Forget FFP, we should be in the Championship given the Benitez and Lampard blunders, which were just the final nails in the coffin after years of mismanagement. We're still paying guys who can't get a game in the Championship 70k/week in 2023. It's a catastrophic failure of leadership.

When we get in the ground we will have a bigger warchest.

Has anyone done any new figures of projections?
I have. We need to sell popcorn, that's what the cool kids are eating these days at the ball game. Incremental popcorn sales at the weekend ballgames should see our net profit increase exponentially - we can do different flavours.

Quite. But we did somehow managed to spend upwards of half a billion quid, with the only real quality being Richie, Pickford and now maybe Branthwaite, to show for it. We'd have done better getting supporters to do a half time draw on the pitch on the final day in 2015, picking players' names out of a hat and just buying them. Even when the rs were throwing money around late 90s to mid 00s, amongst the dross they'd come up with gems who'd stay for 6/7 seasons and play most weeks. Most of our signings from 5 years back are now nowhere to be seen.
