Not sure if being serious. He has been our player for 18 months. His 2 year contract runs out next summer. We pay Spurs £10m if he plays sommet like 7 more games for us. We are on the hook for the wages, but not much we can do about that.

Yep. He has credit from many for his role in the Palace 3 2, but for whatever reason(s) I doubt he will have suitors offering the wages he is used to.

If they're banking on us coughing up anything it's probably because we're usually stupid enough to do so

No idea where the £8m came from; not heard of that till now. We signed the player from Spurs, on 2 year contract, with us paying Spurs £10m every 20 games he played.

So most likely he will be a free agent next summer.

It’s now so late in the day that the “ Out of contract” situation dominates. If we want him and agree a say 2 year contract , we won’t play him and give him a decent wage as we‘ve saved £10 mill. If we play him , pay £10 mill he can still go elsewhere if he gets a better offer. So little point in playing him , unless we somehow believe he’s our future and he’s staying.
