I assume it's a common thing now - a club doesn't want a player to leave, but appreciates that they will probably want to compete for trophies and play in European competition. The player agrees to sign a bigger contract (and therefore a bigger transfer fee) in exchange for the club not standing in their way a year or two down the line.

Additionally, a large part of a sale would be that we need the money. That doesn't change no matter how committed every single player is.

Sorry mate but that's the wrong points total. You need to start looking at the table as if we are on -6 points as things are MUCH MUCH WORSE so tell all your friends.

Currently on 13 points
10 point deduction isn't getting changed
9 point deduction for administration
Another 10 point deduction is incoming for failing P&S again for another season

It won't be behind us until we get responsible owners.

9pts for admin - only if 777 pull out. Obviously that kills us as far as surviving 23/24 is concerned, but maybe that opens a door for a better buyer.

10pts for failing P&S again - if we're being punished for the same offence twice (along, presumably with Forest and maybe even Wolves) the PL will lose whatever strands of credibility remain.

Now the 'formula' (ha!) is in place - albeit a bent one which was introduced halfway through.

Sensible thing to do is an amnesty. P&S with a standard formula starts properly in 24/25, stadiums 100% not included in losses, margin of error increased to £125m to account for inflation over the past 10 years.

Never know. Losing 19 pts in a season might open the door for the Man Utd arabs to buy us instead.... we're not the ones in 1bn of debt after all.

At the cost of 71st straight year of pointless top-flight drain circling, we win the Championship with about 120 points, and then kick ass as 'newly-promoted Everton'

Forest won't be getting punished as it was there first season in the Premier League, it's a rolling average of 3 seasons for the losses.

Wolves could be in a spot of bother.

They make adjustments for seasons not spent in the PL, so they could, but less likely.

I'm not certain it does - we are 4 points clear currently. We'd only need to better the bottom 3's total by 5 points from now to stay up

FFS why are we even discussing this? If we are 100% set to lose a total of 29 pts this term, we might as well just leave the league now, and save everyone the bother of the next 6 months.

If we lose 29 points then yes, absolutely

It would surprise me greatly if that happened though
 
P&s is a joke.....if it wasn't for this pathetic attempt to preserve the status quo and government intervention removing the bulk of our funding.we wouldn't even be considering the prospect of administration.
