6 + 2 Point Deductions

The corrupt football establishment of this country tried to bury us. Most groups of players would have folded under the pressure of that.

I'm immensely proud of these players. They work their socks off every game and have just hammered two teams whose players are on literally tens of millions of Pounds a year.

Special mention also to the fans. I was at both the Newcastle and Chelsea matches and the atmosphere was electric.

…I have a fear they might suspend part or all of the deduction and impose it if we err again. A bit worried that some on here believe our accounts for subsequent seasons are flawed and we‘ve got to go through this all again.

i just want it all behind us.
Indeed. Also quite worried we end up being asset stripped the next two windows to stay ‘in compliance’ also.

I fear this more than anything. The current form and performances we are putting in have thankfully put financial and ownership issues into the back of my mind. I can’t be bothered with all that side of football. But ultimately it’s coming to bite us in the arse. Branthwaite and Onana are the two prime sales. Selling Branthwaite would sting like hell.

Wow......are we now looking at an extra 9 points to come off? I must admit I can't be bothered to read too much about it as I did that before and 99% of the predictions were wrong. However, the fans (and even the players) don't deserve all this mess that the Board have got the club in. Meanwhile, I will now be looking at the table as though we are now on 4 points!!!!

No.

If you can’t be bothered to read anything about it then stop going around making ridiculous claims that we’re on 4 points. No one has to read your absolute self pitying drivel just because you’re too lazy to read an article.

Get that eggs.

But the thing is that If our accounts are still showing an unacceptable loss then we will get punished anyway

We have cut player investment to the bone so it would have to be incredible mismanagement to see significant ongoing losses. ( Mind you new stadia don't come cheap)

I hate being the guy to tell you this, but selling Branthwaite is a case of when. We will likely get to see him get a senior England call, probably for the Euros, then the vultures will circulate. I mean, Spurs are already mooted.

Yep.

And several have mentioned (probably in other threads) that Brighton is a well run club that we should aspire to. Well, they sell their best players. In order to survive, it’s what most clubs simply have to do.
We’ve had such terrible recruitment in recent years that letting a good player go feels awful - but it’s a situation we need to get used to doing.

Until we are regularly in the top half of the league, at a minimum, then we just can’t hang on to players of his caliber. In the meantime we need to become a conveyor belt of talent.

Another thing that doesn’t make sense in my mind… if we’d finished mid-table the last couple of seasons (say somewhere between 10th and 14th), we would have enjoyed more of a sporting advantage than we have… but the sporting advantage would have resulted in more income through league placing, meaning our accounts would just about look alright and we wouldn’t have received any punishment.

Another reason to throw 'sporting advantage' out the window.

Plus, if we maintain our current form, we will finish higher up the league and earn more prize money, which will improve our accounts for the relevant year.

But… if we don’t get the 10 points back… and we fall foul of the rules again because of the 10 point deduction… can we use that as mitigation next time round?

It's to early in the morning for this…

Branthwaite isnt going anywhere. He wouldnt have committed to us if he had really itchy feet. Got a couple of seasons in him for us at least.

Onana as well, at least a 18 months.

Oh for sure but it’d be nice to get another season out of him at least. I can see a sale this coming window, and if not certainly the summer.
