You mean the 'English fans'? I have no idea what the reaction was like in other countries. I would expect that there was less backlash. Unfortunately, for many of these clubs it is a numbers game, lose 5m, gain 10.
It won't happen if they don't play PL, but if they can do both, which apparently now can't be stopped, then why wouldn't they. There were plenty of apologists even in the UK who tried to push the benefits for their clubs, it's just that locally, those against it were louder.
But UEFA is bound by the European court rulings and the PL is bound by UEFA, so it does affect the PL rules. This was from an EU court.. unless there has been another referendum that I missed and UNBREXIT happened I doubt it will effect the PL rules.
Did we take the other 72 clubs into account when we broke away to form the Premier League,or did we just want the money?Yeah, I was on about English clubs.
Why wouldn't they? Good question. Other than fan backlash, I have no idea. They've all ruled themselves out though.
I think there's fans of clubs up and down the country who would be against this.
These so called big clubs need to jog on with their 'we deserve a bigger slice of the pie" attitude. Why do they? Do they not realise that their success is also attributable to others? Do they ever stop to consider that without the various huge and historic clubs who help make up the English game, that their success would mean very little and carry less prestige? Do they ever stop to consider that the financial dominance that their success has brought has been almost solely down to the timing of it? They probably do know that they've been fortunate with the timing of their success, which is why they want to sew it up now. They all know that if Man City (for example) go 20 years without winning something, then they will inevitably go back to being a club that not many outside of Greater Manchester care about.
Fans of all clubs need to be 100% opposed to this. Their financial dominance has already been allowed to almost ruin the game, imo. We need to be of the mindset that we won't play in any competition that includes any clubs who take part in this.

They were frustrated because the money was split 92 ways and they wanted more of it, so partnered with the FA to shaft the lower league clubs and the Football LeagueWas totally different. We didnt cast the other 72 clubs adrift, in fact, originally the PL offered 25% of TV money to the EFL. They turned it down for some reason. The big 5 were utterly frustrated at the pitiful income generated by ITV/BBC, and there are no barriers to entry to the PL, based on merit, up and down.
Rich owners aside, the largest chunk of cash EFL clubs get comes from the PL TV deals.

I have been posting about this but gave up.This was from an EU court.. unless there has been another referendum that I missed and UNBREXIT happened I doubt it will effect the PL rules.

I think this too, make it even more elite and away from its core base.If you're too "poor" to do internal travel every other weekend, then do these money grabbing clubs really want you there anyway?
If it did, it will so small, only bellend kopites can see it.Did the statement have an asterisk on it saying they reserved the right to change their m8nd if it'll make them money and no one calls them out on it like last their attempt?
Earth. On what planet have they qualified for that?
