This whole situation has asked me a question I've not thought about before...could I legitimately and wholeheartedly support another team. Seems inconceivable, but could I get behind a team like Brighton and slowly transition away from Everton
If we go belly up, I couldn’t do that. I’d just give up with football. Been looking for an excuse for years!

Oh dear...
I've supported Everton my whole life since watching the magnificent team of the 80's. I've been through the generally shocking tines since (especially the pre-moyes 90's) and in general loved the moyes era of pienaar/baines down left, the hairs standing on back of neck when you see a passionate cahill punching the corner flag after an amazing header etc.etc.
I wake up in the mornings and look on newsnow Everton, be part of the forums, watch our football when I can get a stream, watch the training vids when they come out, watch toffee tv, watch all the drone footage of the new stadium. Etc. Etc.

It's never ever been something I have considered, not even sure it's possible to do to try and ween myself off the club.
Ask myself do you stick with the mental health trauma whether we go into administration or not, whether we end up in league 1 or not.

Can it be done, I've no idea. But I do realise that it's a tortured existence that does genuinely affect your everyday mood and mental wellbeing. Should supporting football, which is just a sport at the end of the day, put you in the sort of constant negatively that's in the background of everyday life.

I've little doubt that even putting this out there will open up the ' well your not a real fan'.
I'd say currently, I spend way too much time thinking about EFC and allowing the anger and state of the club to get me down on a day to day basis.
It's a weird thing to even consider.

Have they actually come out and said anything about plans for the footballing side things? Or has been silence from 777 until it goes through?

I met another London based Evertonian who recommended I join him at a casino on a Sunday night to watch the NFL. He is a big fan. I have to say I really enjoyed. Great atmosphere with lots of different teams represented with friendly non toxic banter. I will be going back and will take my time in carefully selecting my team. It will be nice to have a distraction. These last few years have taken there toll and you try to tell yourself something does not matter but you can’t switch off from 35 years of supporting something.

I could never support another team even in another country. Even if the club goes into administration it will be reformed and I will support that team as we journey back through the leagues

Who’s your local non league team mate? Pop down with your mates one weekend and give it a try.

I'm not really on about changing allegencies, suddenly going out and buying the brighton kit or singing some other clubs song as I walk down the street.
More a putting-it-out-there, wondering if you can take a more active interest in a different club. Still have everton in your heart but concentrate more time and effort into appreciating a different team, their players and their style?
Certainly hell of a lot of teams I'd rather have my balls cut off then considering following them that's for sure.

As said, it's not a fragile minded, thrown rattle out of pram cos we are struggling, knee jerk reaction.
I doubt it's even possible.
I've woken up this morning and spent the whole saturday morning talking and reading about everton. Sun's out here, and I'm feeling sad about the club. Not healthy.

Agree with you would be better not to care as much, but still think you will be stuck with everton. Just is something you cant walk away from just need to not let it take over, is rubbish at this time. Is why i am trying to be positive with this takeover is maybe fresh start, wont be big money like we spent under moshiri but more balanced. Us getting better on the pitch and then changes at the club will massively help the fan base feel more positive. Just have to keep with it hopefully 3 points today

Not for me.

I barely like Everton these days and hate every other club.

If Everton was to go, I would just enjoy football, without the stress.
