I’m concerned this may be a case of “better the devil you know” this paragraph from Sky Sports is very concerning:

“It's trying to work out 777's motives because this would be by far their biggest investment in football. They've not been successful historically and they do specialise in buying clubs who tend to be in a form of financial distress.“

Actually Abramovich was forced to sell becuse of sanctions. He wasn't allowed to revieve any money from the sale of Chelsea.

? Is my entire point that Russia's war forced it - the threat of those sanctions alone forced him to sell, the sanctions clearly would have impact.

Why is Roman Abramovich selling Chelsea?

The reason Roman Abramovich wants to sell Chelsea is because he is facing the threat of being sanctioned by the UK government. If that was to happen, potentially all his assets in the UK could be frozen and he would lose control of the club. He's already trying to sell £200m worth of property in central London, and his most valuable UK asset is Chelsea, so it makes sense he would try to sell the club as quickly as possible.

The sanctions have impacted Everton through Usmanov and Moshiri - remarkable anyone would contest otherwise.

Having been involved in many an acquisition, it’s astounding that anything can happen unless the outcome of our P&S charge is already known.

We are all fairly confident there will be no points deduction. But would you be sure to the value of a hundred million or whatever our value would reduce by if we were guaranteed relegation, as Leeds value did? It would be like buying Boots or Next knowing there is a small possibility in the next month of the government closing half of your stores, massively devaluing the company you just bought giving you nothing in return and obviously reducing your ability to make profits in the upcoming years, allowing er Matalan (🤷‍♂️) and Superdrug to romp into your market..

Smells funny. Almost as if those involved in deciding our punishment (not our guilt) are quite keen to change ownership 🤔

Mike Ashley would be a much better amd safer owner than this 777 lot.
Indeed. And there will be nothing we can do about it as fans because 777 don’t care about fans. We exist purely for them to make money off.

Josh Wander made that perfectly clear with his comments about commercialising footie clubs more and selling us all insurance.

The only impact we could have on owners like that is a full and prolonged boycott of the matches but we’ll never manage to get that organised before the club collapses under their control.

Horrible situation.
