A new sense of expectation.

I must say I agree Moyes went stale and I got very bored watching his teams, I for one am looking forward to what the future may bring. If Kenwright was confident he was going to keep Moyes in the summer he must have some investment somewhere. This may force his hand at either shipping out or spending some money. COYB

I'm not so sure. I think he's uncomfortable with not putting his strongest side out and he probably feels better not losing matches than winning them. And when he had money to spend with us he had a few misadventures with players like Kroldrup and Bilyaletdinov. It will be interesting to see if he can adapt.

Neither of those are money mate. Signing expensive players that flop is buying Veron for nearly 30 mil... To which United went.. meh.. and bought someone else, Koldrup and Billy would barely register as signings, likewise with Fellaini.. 15mil? there's a squad player right there. Zaha... 15mil for example.
Moyes has never made a bad big money signing.. because he's never made a big money signing. Not compared to those above us in the league.
Comparatively though Felli, Billy, Yak I would say Felli has been a great success, Billy was pants but we got most of our money back and Yak was great but we got unlucky with his injury. Mixed bag but I'd put my money on him getting a player closer to Ronaldo than Veron every time.

Some good posts in this thread. For me , the key factor will be appointing the right manager-not the usual dross we get linked with. I'd like someone with a positive attitude and who can instill confidence and belief in the players. Is attractive football too much to ask for:P Also someone who is media savvy since, unfortunately, the game seems to get played in the media as much as it does on the pitch (add to this the fact that referees are influenced to a certain degree whether people want to admit it or not).
ALSO, just heard on the radio someone say "what happens if Moyes comes back to cherry-pick the top players at Everton like Baines and Fellaini...." If thatb happens then it happens-nothing to be done. As long as we get top dollar and the majority of that money gets re-invested in new talent.

I would be interested to know the age profile of the people posting in this thread.
I have been a supporter since the days of Harry Catterick,so I have seen a lot of managers, good and bad.

I think that a lot of younger supporters have grown up with the security of having Dvid Moyes in charge, have never known anybody else and are afraid of what change may bring....In truth we will all be on tenterhooks until the new manager is named.

Personally, I'm amazed by the amount of dour pessimism that seems to be seeping out of everton fans I come across online (this forum is the exception to the rule, of course). The team and moyes definitely did under-peform this season; anyone who felt the level of optimism in August after that first win, and was then present for our thoroughly deserved 3-0 drubbing at home to Wigan can attest to that.

People move on in football. That's the way its always been. Personally, I'm seriously psyched to see a new face, a new philosophy, and John Stones banging in 15 a season from RB. For once this summer, its gonna be a fascinating time to be an Everton fan.

Moyes was a great manager at times. Maybe the next guy will be better. Maybe he'll be worse. Either way, its gonna be good ****ing fun.

honestly, if he came in for Baines I wouldn't be happy but come on. he's my favorite current player and I doubt he would leave, but if United come in and offer £20mil for the lad and he wants to go( which I don't think he does) you wish him well. he's 28, it's probably his and our last chance at big big money.

Now that it has been confirmed that David Moyes is leaving and I have had 24 hours to come to terms with his leaving,I find myself with a buzz of excitement for the future.

I think David Moyes had gone a little stale at Everton and probably the club needs a new face to inject a new sense of enthusiasm.
I have found the second half of this season in particular tedious, with the cup defeat at Wigan the last straw.

The club is bigger than any one person and I think at our club that wasn't altogether true anymore.I look forward to the excitement a new manager brings,a new style of play, maybe some of academy players are more hopeful today as well.

This is not to take from what David Moyes has done for us and I thank him for that, but sometimes love affairs need to end and both parties need to move on and after eleven years that time has come.

I think we will be pleasantly surprised with the calibre of manager applying for this job . The next couple of weeks will be interesting.

I have a new sense of explanation: it's thoroughly lowered.

I think it's the 'luxury' signings that he struggles with. United are pretty solid at the moment but they're not that exciting. Ronaldo will certainly add to it, if he goes there. And, if he can persuade Rooney to stay, a front three of Ronaldo, Van Persie and Rooney sounds pretty appetising. I think they need someone with more vision and skill than Carrick in the middle of the park though. Will Moyes spot that and sign somebody like Hamsik from Napoli or Modric from Madrid or will he decide that his front three offer all the flair he needs and have a workman-like midfield?

David Moyes will bottle it at Man U, personally I wish him well and thank him for his service. However, Moyes has zero excuses with them ie money, small squad etc that he was some comfortable with at Everton.

An hour ago I was a bit p'd off but after a SSS (going out out tonight!) I am actually looking forward to the future. I also think that no matter what I have said of late about Bill Kenwright I really believe he will get us a very good manager and suprise us all, as this may keep him in the "hotseat" for another couple of years if he brings in "the fans choice"

Interesting times ahead, starting with me playing at Goodison Park on Tuesday! (Derek Temple is our manager!)

Well said. Hope springs eternal.

You seriously believe we have a better squad than Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal? Wow.

That´s interesting. I´m probably what you would call a younger fan, having only experienced the last year of Walter Smith before Moyes. For me Everton = Moyes´s Everton. He´s been almost like a father figure in my life.

This!

It's like some posters on here secretly want the next manager to fail so they can say I told you so. They can then massage the ego of their made up name on the Internet.
