Aaron Lennon ( On Loan January 2015 )

How much would you pay for Lennon in the Summer

  • Up to the rumoured 6 or 7 million - worth every penny

  • No more than 5 million - he's OK, but not worth any more

  • No more than 3 million - he's got no end product ffs

  • Wouldn't take him on a free, he's badly gash

  • Stop asking me questions and stick the grill on

How on earth can the 2 be compared ???!!

I would take £5 - £7 million PLUS Lennon, for Kev.

We could pick up a centre back for that cash sum. So will have affectively spent nothing.
My point being clubs will pay over what a player is worth if they really want him.
I would say lamella is worth under 20 million

Are people really saying that Kevin Mirallas, who has two years left on contract is only worth as much as Shane Long, who was bought for 12million?
Give yer head a whirl, the finance game has changed.
Even despite his flaws and his ability to pick up injuries, he is comfortably worth between 15-25 million in todays market, given that he's been able to clearly contribute through goals and assists over several seasons in the upper echelons of the league.
12 million FFS
Yeah bang on.
When you think long went for 12 million I wonder what we could get for anton

Yes, when the players stock is high, and the player is what that club need.

I dont see any top club wanting a player that is currently in and out of a relegation team. These are the real things to be factored in....not what some 21 year old on fire kid was worth to a title pushing Italian squad !!

We have had 1 awful season we are not a constant relegation team.
People within the game will know kev is a quality player in his prime.
He seems to have switched off but that won't stop teams coming in for him.
He is still class and Martinez has obviously turned him off.
When fit he is better than chadli, townsend and lamella so in my eyes would be an asset to spurs.

No-one's saying he's worth £18m.

@daz4matty said £12m plus Lennon: do you think Lennon is worth £6m, off the back of two decent games for us? Of course not. Therefore £12m plus Lennon is not £18m, is it.

And Kev is DEFINITELY worth £13m.
No but Spurs do and since they're the team we would be doing business with it's their opinion that counts.

But we are in the 'now' mate, and any potential buyer will be looking at 'now' to negotiate a price, not over 12 months ago.

If he was 21, then its a different matter, but he is not.

He is not a £20 million player at all, and barely a £15 million player....you could get Yarmolenko for about £16 million!!!

Its the same for Lennon....and its why they are asking £6 million and not the £20 million ppl said he was worth when he was playing for England.

He was still untested in this league though.
But even so some of the money being paid for bang average players is incredible.
McCormack went for 11 million in the championship
The prices will be even crazier this summer with the sky pot of gold so kev for 18 million why not
He wasn't untested in Italy and that's hardly a footballing backwater since they're still in both the next stages of Europe which England isn't.

I think the problem with Kev and why we won't be able to get anywhere close to that is because he wants to go, the other club knows that and he's he would refuse to go to anyone not in the CL - it sort of limits our options.

The whole situation reminds me of Pienaar and we only got 6m for him.

If we get 12m for Kev early on in the window I would do a dance.

Wait till the summer mate when the silly money gets banded about

If DiMaria is worth 60M then Kev is worth 20M AMRITE? Well no, the transfer market really work that way. The top 10-12 money sides operate in a totally different world than well the rest of the world and unless one of those sides desperately want Kevin his value isn't going to be much.

Kev's contract is almost up, he's getting up there in age, is sometimes invisible, and most importantly is forever injured. Expect an offer of around 5-6M.
DiMaria (at least the one at Real Madrid) is world class, one of the best players at the world cup and was pivotal in Madrid winning the CL.

There's a limited amount of players of his quality and it's that scarcity that gives him that value.

There's plenty of players in the world, plenty even on frees in the summer that are as good as Kev.

That's about right and realistically both players want the move.

I think that's what it will be and that it will happen.

Different teams. Those teams have a hard time attracting players so they pay over the odds both in terms of transfers and wages.

I'm not worried about Kevin tbh
Either a Champions League club is prepared to meet asking price or they aren't and he doesn't go. Still has two years on his contract this summer, so we hold the cards. And as I explained above, asking price will be 20 million or thereabouts, perhaps Even more given the rising transfer fees and prices.

At 27 he is in his prime and on his day he is class.
Like we keep saying the prices are all over the place.
I don't think where we end up this season will have any influence on how much we will get for him, look at QPR if they go down they will still get over the odds for Austin

We really really over-rate and over-value our players!
You just don't understand that
#1 proven high level quality in the league
#2 on contract for two more years so we hold the cards
#3 market value has drastically risen over last few years with average and unproven players selling in excess of 10 million.
He won't go cheaply and we'll get a fair amount of money if he does leave.
