Aaron Lennon ( On Loan January 2015 )

How much would you pay for Lennon in the Summer

  • Up to the rumoured 6 or 7 million - worth every penny

  • No more than 5 million - he's OK, but not worth any more

  • No more than 3 million - he's got no end product ffs

  • Wouldn't take him on a free, he's badly gash

  • Stop asking me questions and stick the grill on

Not a terrible comparison.
You said a club around the relegation zone would not get top dollar for a player and my point is they will.
Wigan themselves got 15m for mCcarthy

No I didn't. I said a player in and out of a team in a relagation fight.
McCarthy again, was Wigans best plpayer, only 23 and cost only £13 million......around the same fee Kev would go for imo.

Why not? Back up your assertion with facts.
These are the facts. Has scored and assisted plenty in the league and so is a proven high class performer over the course of a season, albeit on a game to game basis inconsistent as all wingers are barring perhaps the top ten in the world. Has two years left on contract as we have engaged the additional year extension. Hence we still hold the cards in this regard. Transfer fees have risen Significantly due to the new TV deals. As we hold the cards we will get fair market price for him. Market price is about 20 million. Context is your friend when it comes to football...

Well we clearly disagree, so lets see what happens. Im happy to admit I was wrong, if what you say happens.

Pienaar has more assist that Barkley btw, does that mean he is worth £40 million !?!

Lennon for 6 million is a steal these days.he is always a fast threat going forward and his defensive help is outstanding and just what we need.not many wingers help their full backs out as much as Lennon and I can see him forming a good combo with Coleman.its the left side we need to sort out.mirrallas is very skillfull but doesn't team up well with baines or anyone really and is a liability defensively.buy Lennon, sell mirrallas and get a quality hard working replacement is what I reckon.

I would sign Lennon if McGeady moves on. For me he is a slight upgrade as an impact sub player but if he is a regular starter next season we have gone backwards. However I highly doubt we would get £6 million for McGeady so we would have to spend some of our limited funds to only marginally improve thr squad so for me McGeady stays and Lennon returns to Spurs.

Mcgeady has to go

Mcgeady has to go

I'm not saying they are the long term answer but he or Lennon are good enough to be back up for a team not in European competition. I would only pick McGeady cos it will work out slightly cheaper and would allow us to spend our limited budget where we need it which includes two top class wingers who will hopefully restrict how much our back up players play.

Lennon is twice the player mcgeady is.
We will have money from player sales just hope we spend it wisely

Lennon is a headless chicken just like McGeady. Neither is consistent and if we are aiming to challenge for top 4 or even top 6 we need stronger players. If we signed Lennon would you have him on your first 11?

All this thread tells me is that football fans, in general, have memories like goldfish, and their opinions are based on whatever happened last, rather than any judgement gained from a longer period of time.

Saying "Lennon is a steal at £6m" completely ignores how perpetually awful he was at Spurs for many years, and base it only on two games where he's playing for a contract.

He's got a lot to prove before he's definitely worth £3m on a permanent deal, let alone double that.

I don't think lennon is a headless chicken.
At this moment in time he would be in my starting 11 as for next season we will have to see who comes in and who goes.

If everyone was fit he would be competing with McGeady for the last place on the bench. I would have Mirallas and Pienaar ahead of both of them. However I expect Mirallas to leave in the summer and I suspect we may only get a handful of games from Pienaar so the 2 new wingers I'd bring in would have to be better than we already have and Lennon is not this. I would rather give Atsu another go to be honest.
