Aaron Lennon ( On Loan January 2015 )

How much would you pay for Lennon in the Summer

  • Up to the rumoured 6 or 7 million - worth every penny

  • No more than 5 million - he's OK, but not worth any more

  • No more than 3 million - he's got no end product ffs

  • Wouldn't take him on a free, he's badly gash

  • Stop asking me questions and stick the grill on

mirrallas wont be part of any deal for Lennon simply because Mirrallas wants champs league football and Spurs have a snow balls chance of getting it. Mirrallas will be off to somewhere like Galatasary , maybe even Athletico. If Spurs want 36mill for Lennon then give them it .
I presume that's a typo? :)

I think you're right about Mirallas in as much as IF he goes (and we would be silly to let him leave for anything less than big money, £15m+ IMHO), he will go to a CL club - preferably not a prem-based one either. Athletico would be a good move for him, and for us if the deal saw Alderweireld plus cash coming to Goodison.

But if Kev goes, Lennon is NOT an adequate replacement. He's an upgrade on McGeady, but he has a lot to prove in order to be regarded as more than that. He's been rubbish at Spurs for a very long time.

DiMaria (at least the one at Real Madrid) is world class, one of the best players at the world cup and was pivotal in Madrid winning the CL.

There's a limited amount of players of his quality and it's that scarcity that gives him that value.

There's plenty of players in the world, plenty even on frees in the summer that are as good as Kev.

I'd be genuinely interested in seeing you list a few of these mate. Konoplyanka and Ayew for instance are both on frees, and they are wingers, and they are a little younger than Kev... but critically, they are completely unknown quantities in the prem. Are they the type of players you're thinking of?

I suppose the wider question is "how do people rate Mirallas in comparison to other wingers in the prem?". I suspect that this forum would turn up widely differing views on that question.

The one aspect of the Mirallas transfer certainty...and I'm certain he will leave, is that he is unable to put in a 90 minute shift, and never has. Clubs know this, and any fee we recieve will be reduced accordingly. Don't expect big money for Kevin Mirallas...it won't happen. His fitness is suspect along with his loyalty, and those two factors will not change, wherever he finally rocks up.

All this thread tells me is that football fans, in general, have memories like goldfish, and their opinions are based on whatever happened last, rather than any judgement gained from a longer period of time.

Saying "Lennon is a steal at £6m" completely ignores how perpetually awful he was at Spurs for many years, and base it only on two games where he's playing for a contract.

He's got a lot to prove before he's definitely worth £3m on a permanent deal, let alone double that.

Too right, if he was so damned good Spurs would not let him go. We are once again buying another teams cast offs.

He never got a look in, and neither did Peinaar when he was there, because Spurs bought so many midfielders it was unreal. Lennon is hardworking, both going forward and in defence, is experienced but not old, and is just playing like he always plays, not 'for a contract'. He is more likely to be at Everton next season and will put more of a shift in than Mirallas ever has, and Mirallas will hopefully be gone.

Bill's pre sale briefing as to how crap Mirallas really was and how replacing him with a journeyman nonentity is actually a good thing......

Just because he didn't quite live up to expectations at one club, doesn't mean ' hey Aaron you may as well pack it in lad, you're done '.

Here is a thought, why don't we judge him on what he does at our own club whilst he is here. We have that advantage.

That may be Steve but we have to sign him first. But there is the biz of this, is it Russian chap and McGeady. Essentially Lennon is right wing just like that two but how good could he be on the left fronting Baines, Garbutt or Oviedo?

Lennon is here at present, but if the speculation about the Russian turns into more than speculation, or a speculative enquiry, Martinez has choices to make, which is the way it should be.

Ninety minute player as opposed to sixty minute (sometimes) player. Team player. Thats for starters. If you're at the briefing, let us all know how it goes.

Aaron lennon is doing a great job so far for us, but he is also helping his own career by putting himself in the shop window. If spurs ask silly money for him in the summer and we baulk someone like hull will stump up the cash.
