Only useful if your midfield can get the ball to him on the run in space. Ours can't. He gets it facing his own goal with two men bearing down on him and he does well just to pass it back where it came from. We could have Ronaldo on the wing and he'd be blunted in this team because when Gibson doesn't play we don't have one ball player in midfield who can find the wingers in the areas they want it. Lennon is a good winger, showed it at Spurs when opposite Bale with playmakers like Modric and Van Der Vaart in the middle. Even with dodgy end product, his pace alone was enough to stretch opposition defenses. For some mind boggling reason though Martinez wants to play the Barcelona tiki taka way so bought a load of defensive mids who can't pass forward, a striker with a rubbish first touch who likes to play on the counter, and a flying winger for a formation that doesn't suit one. #Martinezlogic

preaching to the choir there mate, wasn't slating Lennon just making a point, i don't think lukakus first touch is the problem, i believe its his tendency to lose concentration at vital times like when the ball is approaching, doesn't help when the quality of pass that eventually comes to him from midfield is pinged at him at a awkward height and often lacking accuracy, Gareth Barry comes to mind.

Martinez needs to sort it out,now were safe im up for giving him another season, as for how bad this one has been, the last one cant be overlooked, record points total playing great footy, he should be given the chance, for me

Agree with you mate, just annoys me that we only see about one decent throughball a season and I can't remember the last time a winger pinged one onto the head of a striker just to power in. Maybe its going out of the game but all our goals seem to be tap ins from two yards, shots in frustration from the edge of the box or absolute wondergoals. Would love to see a centre mid go past a man, get his head up and just play the winger in first time on the run who then crosses first time for the striker to score, you know the stuff every other side seems to do. There's times in some games where our wingers are infield, the defensive mids are out wide, the full backs are up the pitch with their hands in the air waiting for it, and Lukaku and the centrebacks are playing hot potato with it inside our penalty area. Just don't get it sometimes. Simple game made ridiculous.
