Aaron Lennon ( On Loan January 2015 )

How much would you pay for Lennon in the Summer

  • Up to the rumoured 6 or 7 million - worth every penny

  • No more than 5 million - he's OK, but not worth any more

  • No more than 3 million - he's got no end product ffs

  • Wouldn't take him on a free, he's badly gash

  • Stop asking me questions and stick the grill on

Ask any spurs fan and they all love Lennon.he's been a great servent for them for ten years.the supporters think their manager is nuts even loaning him to us never mind selling.I want to see Martinez buy him pronto for 6 mill.he will become one of our most loved players for sure.

Not sure about most loved and im not sure if hes "worth" 6m, suppose it will all depend on amount of kitty and Outs, 6m is "buttons" these days for somebody with massive premiership experience and from what ive seen he seems a hard working player with bags of pace with a pretty decent passing range.

Impressed with what ive seen so far tho personally.

Something I like about Aaron is his defending ability. He helps out Coleman effectively and he never stops running. As good as Kev and also McGeady, both are pretty average on their defending duties.

Spoke to one today, said he's class and hard working - but just needs his attitude in place, which he lost in the last year or two at Tottenham. Seems to have the right attitude here though. :)

As recently as the first leg against Kiev, Mirallas was doing his share of defending. Watch it again and see who it is winning the tackle on the edge of our 18-yard box to start the counter-attack that culminated in Naismith's goal.

The anti-Mirallas bandwagon is a very, very sad thing to observe. I hope he stays and whatever beef he has with RM is resolved, because when he's on form he is absolute magic.

Lol the what?!?

The guy hasn't been arsed since the peno incident.

I agree with the last bit. When he's arsed he's immense. But he's been arsed about 1/3 of his time here. 1/3 injured. 1/3 being an absolute fanny.

All this talk about how signing Lennon on perm would be a step back, not forward is stupid. He was good enough for a team that got 4th twice in the last 5 years. He's not perfect of course, but it took like 6 managerial changes before there was a manager who didn't rate him.

The next season is very important to us, and i would rather have an experienced pro in the pl on the wing than Aiden McGeady. It's not like we have a line of world class wingers lining up to sign for us after this season, and if a certain egomaniac from Belguim will leave, then we basically would be left with McGeady, maybe we'll sign somebody like that Ukrainian lad, but he's not proved in the league, and Lennon is.

£6m is indeed nothing for an experienced, English winger who's in his prime. Half the risk with transfers is judging whether or not they'll adapt to the league and to the team. He's got 100s of appearances in the Prem and seems to be fitting in seamlessly, so that level of financial outlay is a no-brainer.

The issue is the significance of the signing. If say, we offload McGeady and don't lose Mirallas, or replace Kev with another dynamic winger, then it's good business. If we lose Kev and Lennon becomes our only non-gash winger, then it's a problem, but in itself it's just a sensible signing.

I wasn't impressed when we signed him and his attacking outlay has been roughly what I expected. What I didn't expect what his incredible work rate, and with that in mind he seems the perfect RM to partner Coleman.

Yeah I gotta admit, his signing didnt fill me with joy, but we always knew he was pacy and would provide a threat, was a bit worried about his final product, which hasnt been bad to be honest.

As you say, hes defo not a Mirallas replacement, but hes an upgrade on McGeady or Osman and Naismith on the wing.

Any of our other loanees get a banner? Presumably Lukaku and Barry last season but has Atsu got one this year?

Off topic, but state of Goodison there.

Depending on our budget, I'd sign him. Don't think he is good enough to move us into the top 4, but he is a good enough squad player.
